When I bought Rudolf Hess (LAH088), after a couple of days, I discovered that he has a little bit of grey hair on his back!

Only noticed this on the barrel of the Hummel tonight mainly because in my display that side is to the wall.It says "Scharnhorst" which means,Scharnhorst was a famous World War II capital ship, the lead of her class, referred to as either a battleship or a battlecruiser[8] of the German Kriegsmarine. "'Lucky' Scharnhorst, as she was known in Germany, was a focus for national pride ... she had been described as one of the most beautiful warships ever built."[9][10] The 31,500 t (31,000 long tons) ship was named after the Prussian general and army reformer Gerhard von Scharnhorst and to commemorate the World War I armored cruiser SMS Scharnhorst that was sunk in the Battle at the Falkland Islands in December 1914. Scharnhorst often sailed into battle accompanied by her sister ship, Gneisenau. She was sunk after being engaged by Allied forces at the Battle of North Cape in December 1943.
(Thanks Wikipedia).

Now you're talking Wayne, great ship, and she was sunk by the one and only, HMS Belfast (one of our superb IWM Museums) who after chasing her and pounding her went in with Torpedoes (along with another ship)to finish her off.She went down on fire and muffled explosions were heard beneath the sea as Scharnhorst exploded under the waves.

HMS Belfast also was the first ship to open fire on the Normandy beaches and remained for many days pounding German forces from offshore,if ever you get chance to visit her she's well worth the trip.
