London June Show 2014 (1 Viewer)

I think it'll be the usual bunch of badly dressed, overweight, slightly sad looking middle aged men....

Sorry Angus, you must be getting the London show confused with one of those plastics shows, as we only roll high class here:)...Sammy

Have just checked the Transport for London web site and for the period 6-7th June the Northern Line between Kennington and Camden Town is being shut down for "line improvement" which means that the Angel Tube station wil be shut on Saturday. So if you were planning to travel to the show on the underground you may wish to check out the bus routes.

Hi graycap,

Thanks for the heads up. Just had a look at the planned works for Saturday on the Tube and if you are coming into Liverpool Street by train and don't fancy the bus or like me you don't know London very well I think you can always take the Central Line to Holborn and then the Piccadilly line to King's Cross & St Pancras and walk to the BDC from there.(no planned works on sat' on either of these two lines) Alternatively the Bus Route is No 205 destination Paddington from Stop F, but the return trip by bus to Liverpool Street is somewhat complicated and involves a walk to either Shoreditch or Canonbury and if you chose the latter doing battle on the tube using the lines on which some of the planned engineering works are taking place with a restricted service as a result before you get back to Liverpool St main line station.

Think I'll try/risk the route using the Central & Piccadilly Lines and make sure that I have my A-Z with me just in case I get stuck! {sm2}

Thanks for the travel advice. I was going to get a bus from Liverpool St, but I might give the route you suggested a go. Maddening that the Angel is only a "one-line" tube station. I used regularly to commute into L'pool St but all the Crossrail work is causing confusion. However I'm sure we'll both make it to the show!

All the very best, enjoy the day!

Guys

TFL website shows Circle Line only partially closed (in west London) so you can get tube from Liverpool Street to Kings Cross. Directly outside main entrance are bus stops - half a dozen buses go to Islington / Angel and straight past the show.

Thanks graycap.

The journey by bus to the BDC appears to be fairly easy, but the journey back seems to be very complicated. Going to kings cross on the Piccadilly Line means a slightly longer walk but I don't think it is much further than the Angel from the venue. If it wasn't for the fact that I am due to pick up some ordered "special" figures from Lt. Legion and ATS and collect some notes for an article from David Marshall, the owner of TM Terrain for Toy Soldier Collector magazine that I am writing, I think might have given this show a miss.

Hope that you have a good day with lots of new additions for your collection.

Cheers Gazza, :)

I think that is more direct than the route that I suggested. Don't mind the walk if it is 15 - 20 minutes as you suggest as it is no further than when the show was at the National Hotel when I used to walk up from the Holborn tube station on a regular basis.

Best Wishes
