London Scottish Drum Major (3 Viewers)

More pics

There are 4 emblems on the sash. I can identifu the red lion rampant and the paired thistles (golden). Got to figure out the next two.

I've started to detail the figure. I added the sash after the Inverness skirts have been laid out.

The outlines of all the details have been tightened. Some buttons have been added. The tartan has been sculpted and the figure is starting to look decent.

Starting to move quite quickly on this build. I added a right hand and the tartan drape for effect. Proportions look quite good to me.

Hi
I would say you have the 2 drum sticks plus a drum in the middle of the sticks. You are right on the other items. There would be no battle honours on the baldric at this time.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,

That leaves only the lowest emblem? Thanks for highlighting the absence of any battle honours at this time of setup. The sash on the model appears to differ from a pic of a contemporary sash which has squared ends. The casting shows a rounded end. I'll stick with the rounded end.

I knocked up the tartan drape. A piece of epoxy putty was rolled flat in a plastic bag. after about 45 min, I took it out of the bag semi-hardened and folded it into the shape I wanted. I had to hold the piece in that shape for about half an hour for it to set properly.

Hi
I see a thistle with a wreath around the bottom. I I’m not mistaken I believe the same badge is also on the sporran cantle. I’ll look for some pictures for you of what I see. I think I have some books for reference.
cheers
Dave

Hi
I think the bottom badge is the same as the other one just a different size thistle. You would think it would be the London Scottish Cap badge but it’s not.
Cheers

I stripped the figure and am now detailing and correcting all the various parts, hoping there's method in my madness here. Anyway, the figure is hoping, too...

Now reshaping the legs and boots. Decided to give this piece a light overspray for easier examination. Still looks pretty rough.

I sculpted a bit of the right arm. The head looked a little small so I sculpted the nose eyes and forehead. Starting to look good to me.

I added a cuff to the left arm but focused on resculpting the cap, the ears and part of the beard.

I then cut off the head and shifted it nearer to the left shoulder. Then I built up the cranium at the back.

Working on the legs. Sculpting the spats and aligning the feet. I removed the rest of the kilt to get at the legs as you can see under the skirt...:)
