London Show Pictures - June 2014 (2 Viewers)

Buster

Apart from James being fat, badly dressed and middle aged-his sad look on this occasion was primarily because of the following:-

Just prior to all of us taking a gentle stroll (remember, as has been noted by one of the forum members, none of us can walk fast these days as the majority of us tubby fellows are now fitted with Plastic hips) to the Steam Passage Tavern. James had been ambushed by Clive Ganda who tried to persuade him that he definitely needed the new Figarti Tiger tank (and boy-o what a beast that is) to join the umpteen others (at James's age he cannot quite remember how many he actually has) boxed up in his loft. We all agreed and must have spent a good twenty minutes trying to convince James he really should purchase said item. But he shook his head and stuck to his guns for this trip was figures only and no AFVs.

By the time we got to the Tavern which is about 200yards away from the Business Design Centre almost an hour had passed-well we walk slowly us old Brit froggers and even then poor old Simon had one hell of a job keeping up with us. Andy bought the first round out of his meagre service pension and we set ourselves up-with help from the pub staff lifting us into our chairs-around a table to have a veteran's photo taken-well it was the Sixth of June. Just as the shutter closed James said "I really should have bought that Tiger". Hence Buster- his very sad looking expression in the posted photo. True story which I'm sure James will verify.

NB: The holdall in front of the table however, was jammed full of purchases but none of us could lift it so we called Fed-Ex.

Many thanks Bob, I knew I could count on you for a very detailed and accurate explanation behind the forlorn expression on James' face. Shame on me for not recognizing that a German AFV and whether to purchase or nor purchase said vehicle was the cause of such an anguished look ..... I should have known that look straight away. How many tormented expressions on the faces of countless poorly dressed and sad-faced anaracks have been caused by lumps of polystone/resin/metal painted up as German AFVs ..... after all I've been in that situation many times myself

Chin-up James, as long as there's a toy soldier hobby there'll ALWAYS be Tiger tanks a-plenty to choose from.^&grin

Thanks for all the great pics and a great thanks to the brave photographers. Much appreciated
guy:)

Thanks for all of the photos guys!! Much appreciated. Cannot wait to get my mitts on the Zulu ambulance and the Sierra sets. They all look great.

Thanks, Gazza, Martyn, Wraith, UK BOD, and UK Reb, for taking pictures and sharing them with us. I know how much work it is to do. And I agree, the pub shot is the best!

Wow, so many pretties! A lot of great gloss figures.

ATS sets are outstanding, it was wonderful to see the wide range. And John Jenkins' pieces just keep getting better with each successive series.

Can anyone tell me when the Britains Collector's Club British grenadier c 1750 was issued?

The other sets that really caught my eye were First Legion's samurai, just an impressive collection.

Thanks again, gentlemen, for sharing that with us, prosit!
Brad

Thanks to all of the photographers from me also. Much appreciated. Perhaps we could have "The Best Dressed Photographer" prize at some future point???:D

Always assuming that the Zimmer Frame or Bath Chair doesn't intrude into the frame too much.

I noticed the "sack" - in the much reduced Pub shot this year (Good lads - too much to see, to waste time in the pub!). But assumed this was for "Number One Dress" - to be donned before the various journeys home.

After all - wouldn't do to look too flash at all, when you're trying to knock down the price a bit - eh??

Was it just my imagination - or are there various TS manufacturers out there - who previously wouldn't sell you a casting for love nor money - who now appear to be displaying primed but unpainted castings? - Are they now selling castings????^&grin - or is it just that they can't be bothered to paint them before displaying any more??

Just asking?? :confused:jb

Strange not to be one of those this show, but I couldn't get out of going to my niece's wedding - so I ended up sunning myself down in Dorset for a long weekend and had an excellent time - goes to show there is more to life than TS's!......{eek3}:rolleyes2::wink2:^&grin^&grin

Many thanks to the usual suspects and I will be there in December. :salute::

Jeff who?^&confuse

Great pics and superb effort to document it for all of us Treefroggers. Kudos :salute:: The London shows are always so overwhelming in their offerings! I must note that it always seems like the bigger shops (K&C, Figarti, FL, JJD who get the majority of the attention on this forum) don't seem to have a correspondingly big presence at the show, it feels like the show is dominated by the more "boutique" shops...........is that the case? Just curious CFM. ^&confuse

A bit late to the party but I just wanted to thank all the members who took the time to share their Photo's from this Show :salute::. I really enjoyed my morning cup of Coffee while strolling through the show pictures almost like being there and looking at what's on the Tables with each next photo, looks like they have you covered no matter what your poison :wink2:. I really enjoyed looking at all the different styles, its always nice to see what gets other collectors excited. What a fun Hobby...{sm4} Thanks again regards Gebhard
