London Toy Soldier Show - June 2015 (1 Viewer)

A tip of the hat and a great thank you to all the fellas that took time to post a ton of great photos!!!! as I have said year in and year out nobody covers the big shows like the good mates in the UK, thanks again...Sammy

I think we're there!

First a couple of shout outs.
Many thanks to our forum hosts, Shannon and Pete who got the first round in at the pub from many thousands of miles away! Very much appreciated by all. The bar staff were a little surprised when we asked for 6 pints of single malt and Pete, don't worry about any 'funny' transactions on your credit card, it's all above board. ^&grin

We figured that with Treefroggers at the bar, we should do our part! :salute:: One of these times we'll be there to do it in person.

I went to pull my card out of my wallet today and it was smoldering. What in the world happened over there???

It was carnage Pete. The bar tab ended up looking like a Fifa wire transfer list {sm2}

Hi Guys and fellow treefroggers!

The next time you are at the show, hopefully in December, please drop by and say hello to a fairly new treefrogger if you get chance, it would be good to meet the people behind the names {sm4}

To help you find me, (presuming you want to !) this is what I look like. I am the scruffy one on the right, the dapper chap on the left is Simon Tierney. Good friend and advisor / general manager here at Empire. He is also a member of the Royal Warwicks 14 - 18 living history group and (as you can possibly tell) held a commission when serving his country. Chances are he will be at the show in December too.

Thank you Martyn, Malcolm, Andy, and Simon for taking time in photographing the show and uploading the pictures here.

It's a real labor of love and desire to share with the rest of us collectors globally. Again, thanks!

Carlos,

It is a pleasure and, are we not a community :)

In addition to having a good show, I also picked up 2 French Curraisiers from the old Britain's Opening Moves and a stash of Osprey books and a couple of prints for the study!

Best regards,

Malcolm. :salute::

Many thanks to Andy, Bob, Martyn, and Simon for the London Show coverage and great pictures ..... always much appreciated. :salute::

Thanks to all the photo suppliers to this thread.... it is much appreciated. I had the privilege to attend the June show a few years back and hope I can make it again soon. Here's to all the UK chaps that add so much to this forum and the hobby.

Does anyone know what scale the Italian RHINO company is ? AFV's look half-decent? Are they available in the USA?

I think you're on to something there Martyn, it appears Mr. Cameron has spotted an odd UKIP reprobate or two in that motley looking bunch. ^&grin

I am sitting in a rather cheap hotel in Verdun and finally have a few minutes to extend my sincere thanks to all the guys I met in London. They made me feel very welcome and I enjoyed the chance to 'catch up' with people I have only known in cyberspace. It was also very touching to have the owners of Treefrog pay for the first drinks. That was very kind. I fought very hard not to start a new range that would leave me collecting from afar. I stayed away from the main collectors as I can buy them in Brisbane so ended up with a beautiful artillery piece from The Model Armoury sold to me by some shifty guy who must remain nameless but who got me to buy what was LITERALLY the first thing I looked at.

No need for me to add my photographs but I have attached a few of things the Brisbane guys never get to see in our shop. Once again my thanks to the guys in London and to Rob whose recommendation went something like "Jack is such a good guy I am tempted to give up my British citizenship and become an Australian'.

I highly recommend a visit to a show.

Lads,

We've made hotel reservations for the December London show, sorting the transportation plan now. Keep a lid on those dodgy ice cubes!

Paul,

Just to get the order in now.

Mine is a pint of best bitter, Rob and UKReb is a G&T and Simon has a Bucks Fizz with a cherry and an extra umbrella.

It will be good to see you in London mate. The LTSS is especially good in December.

I always knew, Simon has style :wink2: ^&grin

Right... If they've solved the issue of the contaminated ice cubes by LTSS, I'm in for a Tullamore on the rocks (Jameson's/rocks in a pinch). Pint of Newcastle if they haven't sorted the icemaker out!

If I'm not there on time, start without me.

ATW!
Paul
