The worst thing about this rioting in London is that these guys do not have any cool music to go along with it all.
Where are the bands like The Clash ( London Calling, Guns of Brixton and the The specials ( This town is coming like a ghost town when you need them. That is what is wrong with this younger generation. Too busy on their cell phones to get up and make some decent songs to have a riot too.

Message to all the rioters ........... u wanna be big men and fight to the death , well get your sorry little arses on the next plane to Afghanistan and stand alongside real men , they're called soldiers and they are fighting a war unlike you bunch of pathetic wastes of space and show your faces !!!!

Martin

There's no political agenda here, they are just the same bunch of theiving scumbags that have hijacked every peacefull demonstration over the past year. They call themselves "Anarchists" but are the first to run to the establishment when they want help or dole money!
There were messages on facebook and the like saying "come to Enfield for a free T.V" !
Now there are calls for the army to be on the streets with water cannons. Where they think the water cannons are comming from is anyones gues and where are the soldiers after the latest cut backs!
Oh and by the way all the "cool" musician. Terry Hall (of The Special) went on to perform with Bananarama, Jonny Rotten (John Lydon) now sells butter and Iggy Pop sells car insurance! And of course "I hope I die before I get old, The Who are now racking it in from C.S.I. sound tracks!
This place isn't turning into a ghost town anymore, it's turning into an eastern european town!

This is nothing to do with the shooting of a man by Police, this is opportunistic robbery and looting. One looter on his way from the scene was asked why he did it ' Because I haven't got any money'. The scenes are almost Blitz like from above and its not only the big chains that are being attacked, one family lost their shop that had been in the family for five generations. The Police have been totally overwhelmed by the sheer scale of it and have been fighting to hold the line. This has resulted in gangs of youths having up to two hours to do as they please before Police can get there, which has led to members of the public arming themselves and coming out to defend their property. It is total anarchy in several parts of the Capital. Still, not to worry about the cut backs in Police numbers and financing, as long as we can afford to fight Wars abroard.:rolleyes2:

Curfew and get the Army in are now on the agenda. In fact maybe they won't disband the Coldstream guards now, there are plenty of people for them to shoot in Peckham, Hackney, Ealing, Enfield, Croydon, Clapham, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham etc.

Bleak, very bleak.

Martin mate,
Call out The Guards and show them some Cold Steel. A bloody disgrace.
Cheers Howard

Terrible pictures there. I'm totally shocked by what this scum is doing there.

Calling the military !? Are they equiped with riot gear? Shooting at these people would certainly cause even more trouble and would shift the focus IMO. But certainly it's time now to bring in massive manpower to stop this.

30 years of troubles in Northern Ireland! There are still plenty of us remember our training. You don't need to shoot anyone but snatch squads would be useful to take out the ringleaders, then they all useually fall apart.

Martin

Don't waste time training the Army in riot control. Just give them batons and send them in now!

Ken Livingstone says that the rioters feel disengaged and need some-one at the top to speak and feel for them.
Darcus Howe says it is not a riot but an insurrection.

I think you all know this thread will be deleted as it's exceedingly political but what is taking place is symptomatic of governments having to impose austerity, which is hitting poorer people. The wonder is that this hasn't happened sooner. With the western democracies groping for a solution, this is likely to increase.

The job of the police is also made more difficult by the coordination of the rioters through their smart phones and Facebook.
