I have a large toy soldier collection, most of which I'm going to need to part with, primarily for space reasons. It includes King and Country, W. Britain and Figarti figures, vehicles and dio pieces.

In the past I've tried selling individual pieces, but it's a) been extremely time consuming, and b) shipping individual toy soldiers quickly in a way that is protected becomes not just unprofitable, but has caused me to take a loss.

While ideally I'd like to make sure each item winds up with a collector who will enjoy them, I don't have the time to do that. So I'm hoping to find someone trustworthy who might be interested in buying/taking possession of the entire collection and selling it for me. I'm not looking to make a huge profit, just clear space and recover as much of my investment as is possible.

Any suggestions, either of a re-seller you'd recommend, or where I might find one (I don't think Treefrog does this, do they). I'm located in Los Angeles, but would ship the items pretty much anywhere.

My apologies if I'm not posting in the correct forum. Due to health issues - both mine and family members - I've been AWOL from here and don't remember the protocol.

Hi.

I was wondering if you have any W.Briatins t-34 tanks for sale.

Thanks.

Mark,

How big a collection are we talking about?

Brad

There are several guys here who do this sort of thing but Tree Frog does consignments so contact Shannon and Peter on this issue.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the replies - both publicly and privately - so far.

I'm currently out of town and away from my collection, so I can't give you a precise number or listing of the size. I'd estimate in the low hundreds of figures. I'll be back the 21st or so, at which point I'll update this with the size if not a comprehensive list.

Offhand -
K&C: lots of Streets of Old Hong Kong, some Ancient Egypt, FOB (civilians), LW (figures, not plans)
W. Britain: a ton of Zulu (including the 1st Rorke's Drift Hospital), almost all of the AWI figures, lots of early war WWI
Figarti - Vietnam, Abrams Battle Tank

probably forgetting some

no Britains T-34 or any Britains WWII, sorry

Hey...another update. Again, mostly want to thank everyone for replying both on this thread and over PM. I will try to reply to everyone when I can.

I just got home, where my collection is, and will now resume cataloging, pricing and packing it. I'll then post a list. That will take some time because I've been out of town for the past month (and half of the last six) caring for sick family member, and now it's the holidays. Until then, if I don't get back to you it's not because I'm ignoring you.

One thing that would help though is that I seem to remember there being a list that I saw linked to on these boards where there were prices for retired toy soldiers (definitely K&C, maybe more). That would be helpful to me in starting to establish baseline prices.

Thanks again, and I appreciate your patience and help.

Hi Mark,

Here's the link:

Merry Christmas!

Mark (and Joe),

That is not a retired price list but a listing of K & C items released since the company was started, although it does list original retail price.

There is no list of prices paid for retired items. One way to determine pricing is to go to eBay, put your set number in and look for prices paid under the Completed Auctions section. Depending on what you have, prices are in a but of a decline.

Brad,

Correct, there is no retired price list of K & C items. Thus the only list Mark could have been referring to was the one in the link I provided. The ebay completed auction function is a helpful tool for some, especially when synthesized with original retail pricing culled from Sager's website.
K & C prices are in significant decline.

Sorry to bother you guys again, but I seem to remember another list that maybe a forum member posted/created that was separate from the Sager sight. I feel like the link had niagara.edu in it or something.

Sorry if I haven't replied to you Howard (or to anyone else). Again, had both family and health issues that kept me from having time to organize the collection and kept me physically from it. I just started going through it this evening, and I can see it's going to be a long task. It's not easy to inspect every item, box or re-box it up, find a price for it etc. I appreciate everyone's interest and patience.

Thanks for the reply. It is a long job to inspect and log. Send me the list when you get it

Just a quick update:

First - Two prospective buyers contacted me who live in or near Los Angeles, where I am located. They will get priority because it will save the time and expense of shipping. However, there is no guarantee that we'll agree on a price, or they'll want every item etc.
The other priority I'll give is to those who are interested in buying the entire collection, or large portions of it. Just the time an effort it's taken categorizing things makes me dread the possibility of making multiple deals and shipping to multiple addresses.

Also, so far, here are the categories of figures I've sorted through:
K&C: Ancient Egypt, Crimea (Series I) Streets of Hong Kong, D-Day, Fields of Battle, Luftwaffe, Market Garden, RAF, US Navy.
Still to go through: K&C Crusades, W. Britain WWI, AWI, Zulus, possibly Figarti Vietnam and Iraq

I'm not going to list individual figures until I've gone through everything, so please don't make individual inquiries yet.

Again, appreciate everyone's interest and patience, and thanks to everyone who has given me guidance on finding prices etc.
