Making A Photo Diorama (2 Viewers)

We cheat once and a while too......I understand a backdrop is the way to go for a shelf display, but another way to go, is slim buildings, Nick has made a few, and I use them for my personal collection. I think he shows some on his section of our Web Site. But as you can see in the pic I showed previously, the depth of buildings etc. really adds character. If you have the room, it is the way to go and it is very rewarding to create. We do our shots, and take apart all of our scenes when done. So if it is just for photography, it is absolutely the way to go. Alex

You're a Cool Cheater Alex ;) :D I read somewhere that K & C will be bringing out some new buildings, I hope they are the slim kind.

I am always afraid to mention that we would have something for sale, but Nick does them already and they are inexpensive, but everyone is original. Let me see if I can find one in one of our scenes and I will post it. Also you can check nicks section on our Site. Alex

Cool, I'm always on the lookout for something "inexpensive" - a term not often applicable to K & C lately ;)

This is Nicks Expensive version but you get the idea. All of the buildings to the left of the remark are Nicks and the ones to the right are from Frontline Figures.

In my opinion Nick is on a level with anyone who does this type of work, and his price is way way lower. He has not had time to really concentrate on one specific piece, because of the volume of work we have to do. But we plan on slowing down and increasing detail even more. A inexpensive version of this, is to just do the front wall as a backdrop, it would be about an inch deep. This is not done, yet and will be in our next scene which is going to be pretty different and exciting. Alex

For Firebat

This is a pic of Ladder 2 operating. This unit runs out of my Firehouse, and was the unit used in the first 2 seasons of Rescue Me. Our equipment takes a beating from the heavy fire load, we needed a replacement for the old truck Ladder 2 had. They sold us the one from the show, which had New York FD markings. They changed the markings, and the rest is history. We have a celebrity truck in our house. Pretty Cool. Alex

I'll say that's cool. Have you met Denis Leary?
Thanks for sharing your story.
Off to watch episode 2.

Yes I have...... he visited our house shortly after we received the truck. The Department I work for is about 10 miles from New York. We were there very quickly, with about 100 men and some equiptment on 911. Alex

In opening scene, that every show starts with..... the trucks blasting through the city...... The Ladder truck is the one we have.

Back to backdrops. The pic below is untouched. The buildings, as you can see, are about 2" deep.

Here is a change of angle where you can't see that the buildings are not deep. And the sepia tone gives it the realistic WWII look. We do love that devastated look. Oh yea..... the chimney is falling and hopefully takes out some of the enemy
