Making diorama's (2 Viewers)

Maximo, I used to build dioramas in 1/35 scale for about 4 or 5 years. Working with foam is different because you are actually making(constructing) something instead of buying a kit and painting it like in 1/35 scale. Also I think 1/30 is way less meticulous than 1/35. So don't worry about minor details. This is my third attempt with working with foam so just go for it. Do you have theme and layout in mind. Maybe we can start from there and i'm sure alot of us can then give you some tips.

Hi Alexdakar, I have never used foam for dioramas. Can you tell me the density of the foam you use and what you glue it with. Also is there something you can paint/spray on the foam to give it a tough rather than a slight spongey foam feel. In addition what do you use to cut it with. Heck can you tell us everything about this foam stuff and how to use it :)

Alex,

Wow, you have some talent, lots of it. Only in my wildest dreams could I do something like that; well maybe not...LOL

I use other peoples stuff; yours are original, see any differences? Yeah, I do, keep up the good work and make it a public affair and keep showing us your progress so all of us can live vicariously through you.

Carlos

P.S.

Lose the pink, its not very war like, LOL. I know, you haven't painted it yet.

The foam is 1/2 in thick and they also have 2 in foam. To glue them together just use a hot glue gun. Do not use spray paint because it could melt all of your work. I use a hobby knife and a hot foam cutter to cut and a scraper for the battle damage. I basically use the foam for the main structure and landscape and use what I can find around the house for details. I don't know if you can tell but the white and gold lion heads on the building are just some clothing buttons. The columns are from a wedding cake and the trim are some wooden pieces that I had in the garage.

Hi Alex thanks for the pic's they are great... The theme i had i mind was for the American War of Indipendance and have got an idea about the indians and british hiding in hills waiting to ambush the unsuspecting American troops..

I have started to make this and hopefully after a bit of fine tuning and help from you guys i will have a piece that i don't feel embarassed about posting pic'c of on tree frog...

Thanks again

Maximo
