Finally got the Man Cave up and running though not completed. Was a chore to move, but having fun putting stuff together. Amazing what you can hoard over the years {eek3}^&grin

Lawrence,
Hope Sandy did not affect you too much.

Great looking man cave. Am sure there are many who would be happy to relieve you of some of the contents.

Saw a signed helicopter print in your album area. Who signed it ?

Regards
Brett

Hi Lawrence,

Great job on your man cave. I wish I had the space for my own.

Thanks for sharing.

Best, Raymond :)

Thanks for the kind words. We were lucky, but others are really facing a difficult time with no power or water and cold weather upon us. My sister out near Long Beach on Long Island is still without power, but is braving it as she is concerned about looters. Fortunately, she lives on a block where all the neighbors know each other and look out for each other. It also does not hurt that a bunch of them are retired NYPD.

As for relieving me of some contents, my wife would be happy ^&grin

Helo print is from HS-11 and signed by the pilots and crew. US Navy Squadron usually attached to Carrier Air Wing One. Retired Commanding Officer is my daughter's godfather.

Thanks Raymond. This is only a temporary one as my son will be finishing college in two years and the idea is to have him use it when he graduates - that is how I pitched the idea to my wife so she would agree to buying the apartment :smile2: Hopefully, he will graduate on time and find a job in NYC. In the meantime, I am living the dream ^&grin

Splendid pics Lawrence, thanks very much for sharing, enjoy your room!

Cabinet displays

What a great idea for how to display a collection. I like how you can open it when wanting to look or entertaining friends that are collectors and close it when you might want a normal look to the room. Not to mention limiting the dusting which is always an issue for me.

Thanks for the kind words. The cabinets are from Ikea and are not too hard to put together. This one is deep enough and only concern is the shelf will warp over time due to the weight - mentioned this to my wife and she suggested I stop collecting - no soldiers, no weight - problem solved :rolleyes2:

So 3 Silk Road gatehouses, no wonder they are rare, scary to see how collections accumulate. So many unopened boxes. This is one almighty collection, thanks for the insight, cheers, Robin.

Way to go. ! That's what these things are for.........displaying, showing, and enjoying. {bravo}}

Good eye Robin. Got very lucky with those. For fun, see if you can find the fourth one :) As for insight - according to my wife, on good days, the term "hoarder" or "addict" seem to apply, on bad days, "sick" becomes the word of the day :(

Thanks and wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. Nothing like having a fun day with the troops:smile2: Though I have been told I need to get a life....

Thank you good sir! Now I am curious as to the reference or meaning of Lo_1863.

It's for General Lewis A. Armistead who was called "Lo" by his friends. He died a few days after his wounding at the Battle of Gettysburg during "Pickett's Charge" in 1863. His picture is my avatar. :)

Thank you for that bit of history.

Larry ,

Looks great. Did you move or just take over your son's room. My mother had recently moved to a assisted living facility so I'm looking forward to moving a lot of my stuff to the basement.
