Man Cave (1 Viewer)

Larry ,

Looks great. Did you move or just take over your son's room. My mother had recently moved to a assisted living facility so I'm looking forward to moving a lot of my stuff to the basement.

Brad

Thanks Brad. We bought and renovated this apartment on a lower floor - ostensibly for my son when he graduates college and hopefully finds a job in two years. We still have our apartment on the upper floor, so son will be close by, but still have his space. He may decide to stay in his old room as he gets free lodging, food, and laundry.... Kids....

Sounds suspiciously like you have outflanked your wife and picked up a permanent display room with a 2 year head start. :rolleyes2:^&grin

Lawrence,

Congratulations! I`m very happy for you! A magnificent, one of a kind, collection like yours deserves such a great man cave for it, or better saying, from what sounds as a "conspiracy" I read bellow, a man full apartment...{sm4}{sm4}

Great man cave, Larry!^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool You finally have a reasonable amount of space to display your magnficent collection . . . :wink2:

The unofficial Lo King & Country and Trophy museum is nearly ready to open!{sm4}

Awesome man cave, thought it was a shop on the first lot of pics! and the cupboards full of TS's is also a sight, bending shelves and all....

Tom

Very nice collection. The last of my kids are gone so I need to start on my man cave before my wife gets it. Once again looks great.

Awesome man cave Lawrence! Thanks for sharing all the pics! It's amazing how things accumulate! I saw a wonderful looking castle in one of the pics...it was sitting on a stack of items. It looks like there might have been another one on one your shelves. I was wondering if is a custom piece or maybe even one of Gordon's creations. Fantastic, sprawling collection Lawrence. I'm glad your move went well and that you had fun arranging your collection in your new space.

Joe

i am struggling to find any more room, based on your photos, to display new/future items {sm3}

Thank you for that bit of history.

Nice man cave and collection! I have also made use of IKEA for collection storage needs. Once I can figure out how to photograph the units and the collection without the flash bouncing off the shiny backing I will post them here.

One other small tid bit about Lewis Armistead...he was the quartermaster of the frontier fort in my hometown of Fort Dodge, Iowa about 10 or so years before his death in the Civil War.

Thanks for posting your collection!

Thanks and wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. Nothing like having a fun day with the troops:smile2: Though I have been told I need to get a life....
Your got a life mate...your surrounded by it in your terrific cave...TomB......Love your aircraft collection....the flying boats are really something and so is the Swordfish

Lawrence,

I think were related somehow...in the being particular catagory gene? The cave takes me back to when I was 10 and opened a candy store in my bedroom, financed by the sale of golf balls found in the golf course pond over my fence...it was a small well displayed and organized business, unfortunately most all of the profit was self consumed^&grin I would like to add that your security should be of the highest level...cave intruders do exist and most victims regret they didn't take more action in protecting such a collection. My thoughts are that you are your own security and haven't seen the outside world in a very long time:tongue:

Lawrence,

I can't wait to stay the weekend in the cave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you still installing the closed circuit tv and metal detector at the door???? I like a good challenge!

Seriously, great stuff and am very happy for you, I can't wait to visit and see it in full effect.

Tom

Larry and company I recently moved into a new home and am eying the library for a potential man cave to display my little treasures. These pics inspired me so I showed my wife as a point of comparison of how much space and how far people will go to display their large collections. I needed her to see people are even more obsessed than me! {sm3} Her answer was an unequivacle......NO! I'm still relegated to a couple of small curio's. Thank's for letting us collectors see what the "dream" realized looks like Larry. ;) Sigh. :(

Best to you and your family (particularly your sister out on LI) this Thanksgiving.

Best,

Brad

Thanks for the kind words and that tidbit about Armistead. Looking forward to seeing the photos.

Thanks Tom. Will try to add photos of other planes when I get the chance.

Security is taken seriously - just waiting for the TSA to sell the old scanners:smile2:

Tom, just let me know when you want to stop by. FYI - cameras are in place - scanners due soon ^&grin

Congrats on the new home and sorry to hear the Missus is not giving you the green light. Maybe a different approach - keep the curio cabinets in the bedroom, so she sees it everyday. Either she gets tired of looking at it and lets you use the library or she gets tired of looking at you and wants you to sleep in the library - on second thought......

Thanks Larry. Can't wait to visit it and see all your goodies.

Best,

Whenever you are in the city, let me know. Happy to show you the troops. Have a great Thanksgiving as well - we all have much to be grateful and thankful for.

Thanks for the compliment. Yup, keeping those empty boxes stored and organized is a nightmare, but great to have when moving figures and vehicles :smile2:

Still organizing, but getting there. Some more pics. Early wood & resin vehicles as well as gloss figures
