An impressively arrayed shield wall for sure :salute:: - Awesome even {eek3}

But I find it hard to accept that there would have been a kneeling front row of warriors. A very, very precarious position to fight in close up I would have thought - especially if armed with spears. Also taking into account the ebb and flow pushing of the opposing shield walls.

I know W Britain and First Legion also include kneeling figures in their shield walls but still........

These are exceptional figures and I will be adding them to my shield wall - just not the kneeling figures.

To me it looks more like a combination of protection against archers and being in a position to stab at the wounded Breton knights (see the middle picture in my previous post (#14))!

With so much ferocity, I think I'm going to need a lot more casualties! I'm astill not sure what I will eventually set up...

Dang, I've been resisting to buy any toy soldiers. These sculpts are excellent and drawing me in.

I tired to hold off, but I couldn't resist, have added several figures from this line and am very glad to be adding more-but I've got a very thin shield wall so far-lol

Awesome.
Would like to see some Huscarls re-released.
Also, a group of 2 or, better 3 Norman archers for under $45/ea. would be Highly Appreciated.

I’ve been biting my tongue, but I agree. I just saw a video with Toby Capwell who’s the head curator of the Wallace Collection. They showed one of the clips from the Last Kingdom where they do something like this. He was pretty adamant they would not have formed a Testudo like formation. They are too hard to put into place effectively even for incredibly disciplined Romans.
