Just saw that Sammy. The AWI does look great as does the upcoming Buford's cavalry, which hopefully will be out by the time Valley Forge rolls around. We will wait for Matt to upload photos.

Not able to find "March Newsletter". Please copy and paste the text so we can all see what is coming our way. Pictures would be nice also if possible.:smile2:

Thank you

If you sign up on FL website it is emailed out direct. It is a long email with lots of photos so not easy to copy.

3 new ranges coming and some interesting releases - couple of pics attached.

The introduction is:

"Greetings one and all! First off, as this is our first newsletter of 2011, I want to thank you all for making 2010 such a great year. We released several new ranges in the form of the American Civil War, the Crusades, the American War of Independence, and our first sizeable Samurai release as well, turning that into a full-fledged product range. All of these ranges have been met with enthusiasm by our customers and we want to say a big “thanks” to you all for continuing to support us in our endeavor to make the world’s finest collector’s figures.

It’s been quite some time since we last sent out the newsletter, but don’t let our silence mislead you – we’ve been working at a frenetic pace on some fantastic new items for 2011. It promises to be our best year yet, with far more figures, vehicles, and terrain/scenic items produced than any year previous and with a release schedule that is just terribly exciting! I have to admit, I’ve literally been chomping at the bit to show you all some of the new figures (and product ranges!) that we’ve been working on. Alas, all in good time! To set the tone for what is to come this year, not only will we launch three wonderful new figure ranges (subsets of current ranges don’t count!), but we’ll also continue to expand our existing ranges with releases for each and every one of them coming over the next six months. Napoleon’s Europe in particular will be a big focus for us over the first half of 2011 with not only the remainder of the 92nd Gordon Highlanders but also with another iconic Waterloo release plus the addition of coverage of a new battle we haven’t yet visited. So expect to receive a pretty continuous barrage of both newsletters and announcements on our website as 2011 progresses. "

Cheers

See that Gazza is doing it. However, if you send me your email, I can forward the email on.

Wow, there was a lot to digest in this newsletter. It is great that Matt does this for us and I'm sure everyone is appreciative.

The obvious first thing is the confirmation of three new ranges. Three! There has been some speculation about what they might be, but now we can all worry for our wallets a little more, since there will be three new lines. Plus, it sounds like the reveal for the first one isn't too far off.

Secondly, Matt again said that each existing range will have thier own releases in the next six months. That has to make any First Legion fan happy, knowing they will see something for thier own 'favorite' line in the near future! And as Sammy's recent list shows, there is considerable following for most all of the ranges represented here on the forum, so it's good news all around.

And for the all the Napoleonic fans, it sounds like the flagship line is getting some extra attention soon! Matt is certainly going to be a busy guy....

Thank you for copying and posting the Newsletter. I have signed up to receive it, however for some unknown reason my e-mail provider blocks it.

Thank you again for the extra effort.:smile2:

Wow, gotta love those Union troops^&cool

Stunning!!!! Now to me it's a case of hold. hold, hold your fire... there are 3 more new ranges to be announced and then you can choose (hopefully)...
Which new ranges will we get? Let's play prediction, something between the foresight and wishful thinking:

1. Rome (foresight)
2. French and Indian War (wishful thinking)
3. Hmmm, a British theme, Sudan, India or Northwest Frontier...(wild guess)

Matt: Your dismounted Union Cavalry are mind blowing...exquisite. I feel part to blame for your having to delay the rollout to replace the Spencer repeating Carbines and Blakeslee boxes off the initial projected release figures. These troopers are fantastic. Sometimes the delay justifies the means. You hit a home run on those Yankees. Now we beg for you to get a batch of Confederate Cavalry out to augment your Gettysburg presentation say day 3 at East Cavalry Field either mounted or dismounted (both!)with your usual flair for drama: terrific paint jobs and incredible sculpture. My suggestion for a plausible depiction for day 3 is to depict about six or seven troopers mounted galloping towards a clearing where two dismounted troopers are holding four horses each that leads down to the other six troopers firing dismounted along a stone wall or fence line. This is akin to what happened day 3 at Gettysburg whereby Jeb Stuart mustered the bulk of his troopers about 3500 men from Fitz Lee's, Hamptons, WHF Lee's and portions of Jenkins' brigades for a pitched battle near the Rummel Farm at East Cavalry Field. For Gettysburg day 3 that interpretation does not take away from Cemetary Ridge (Pickett's Charge) taking place a mile or so away just puts into perspective both fights that took place almost simultaneously. A secondary consideration is that the dismounted Union troopers that you just rolled out could easily be added as counterparts from say Custer's Michigan Brigade (1st,5th,6th & 7th). Good Luck getting those troopers to market.

Jefman, I would venture a guess that Matt doesn't blame you or anyone else for any delay. As you know, First Legion has always tried to be as historically accurate as possible. I think the important thing here is that Matt was very willing to listen to interested collectors like yourself and make changes if need be. That is really great customer relations!

And these Union Cavalry are a 'home run' to be sure.

Best to get it right, plus gives you the chance to catch up on the Johnny Rebs :)

I have no idea yet how many of these Union soldiers I will get because I am still just beginning the AWI range along with other ranges, but WOW!! If I only got one set, it would be the officer holding the wounded soldier, but I am sure I will get more than one. Really top notch as usual. Worth the wait.

Three new ranges....

Let's guess : See, Matt is a wargamer at heart. So if we follow what FL did in the past... They have always released everything in 54 mm that they did in 40 mm..

So what's missing ? Antiquity including macedonians, romans, spartans and the trojan wars....

I'm pretty sure one new range is an 'antique' one...

Cheers,

Alex

Looks like these fellers are about to get some competition!

Brad: Incredible quality on those infantry. If anyone wants to look into the future FL makes it on quality. I realize you get what you pay for. The FL Napoleonic Cavalry runs $129 to $159 per figure. Pricey yes but what depth and drama. Noah: The last thing I wanted was for Matt to pull all the figures with Spencer's and Blakeslee's off the production run. They are spot on late 1863 onward so a depiction in later campaigns gets added realism with the change in carbines and cartridge boxes. I'm still striking out in my lobbying for more Rebel Cavalry as the 1st of 4 2011 WB catalogs had none (that will change by year end) and FL is just getting their 2010 dismounted Yanks onto the market. At this pace it is gonna be 2016 before Matt gets to day 3...when Confederate Cavalry makes it onto the Gettysburg storyline.Maybe I can cut in line and plead for some Day 2 action with the shelling/torching of the Federal Cavalry Barracks many miles away at Carlisle by Stuart's troops. So I thought I would chime in now with my own interpretation of their role in the fray.Whether he uses my suggestions is anyone's guess. But after seeing those Rebel infantry and the updated Federal cavalry I am drooling at the possibilities.

Hi, Paulo,

You see, with this line of thinking you'll be holding your fire forever as by the time we announce the new ranges, we'll also announce that more new ranges are coming! So, in theory, you could hold your fire forever waiting on an endless cycle of new things coming and the world may pass you by! ^&grin (though, you'll be richer for it!)

Actually, having looked at your list, I think I forgot a new range (not one on your list, but your list reminded me of something I forgot that we have in our pocket)...So much going on, even I have trouble keeping track of it!

Best,

Matt
