Margaret Thatcher RIP (1 Viewer)

Well I may not have agreed with everything she did but at the least for her handling of the invasion of the Falkland Islands she has my deepest respect.

Yes, just heard the announcement on Bill Bennett's show. RIP, Lady Thatcher.

perhaps belonging to a different age...

Oh, I disagree. We need her kind of leadership today, more than ever.

Prost!

I was watching an ABC panel debate when it was announced. Panel was 5 females one of whom was Germaine Greer. News had just come in live and her first reaction when asked to comment about something she said was a war crime:mad:. I wont say what it was as don't want this thread to get too political.

Oh well, each to their own Brett. The main thing is she sent the boys down there to chuck them out again.

Over here she is either loved or loathed depending on what side you're on. I know families that still have issues from the miners strike that split them wide apart and the wounds have never healed.

Sounds like they are planning a big funeral. Will be interesting to see how that is received as she is such a controversial figure.

They just showed an interview before she was PM and she was saying she did not think there would be a female PM in her lifetime.

That is very sad and what a great leader she was.

Sad news. Like or dislike her, agree or disagree, one thing is for sure: leaders of her kind are getting rarer and rarer. When seen in the future through a historical perspective, from a global point of view, IMHO her overall legacy was a positive one. RIP

Yes, this is sad news, she pulled the UK out of a mess, RIP.

I was watching that debate too...several remarks were made by a couple of well informed panel members.....not for me to repeat....know nothing about the remarks.....she will be remembered by most as the Iron lady and the Falklands....they cant take that away from her...cheers TomB

She was truly a GREAT BRITON! Along with President Reagan, we owe her many thanks for the demise of soviet communism.

Lost two lovely and accomplished ladies today - Baroness Thatcher and Annette Funicello. The world is better off because of both their efforts.

If I can speak to the world about Germaine Greer as one of her countrymen.

Sorry about that. It won't happen again.

Dear Brad

I hate this kind of post - I end up agreeing with it and disagreeing with my own earlier observation! Let's meet half way - 'Though it might have sometimes appeared that she belonged to an earlier age, we need her kind of leadership today, more than ever'.
