This might be interesting for the collectors of the glossy Delhi Durbar Series.
The Marlborough Rewa State Carriage is currently up for auction on ebay.
The auction number is 260377098517

When I first saw it, I thought wow $396 with only 11 hours to go that is cheap. Then I read the description, the elephants and mahouts are replacements. Still a very good deal though.

Is it a good deal?

Yes for the carraige, but depending on where it ends, in order to get Marlborough to remake the elephants and mahouts, I bet that is several hundred pounds, so you might not really save too much on this one.

Can you tell I looked into it????:):)

I suppose if you wanted a pure Marlborough collection no....but if you just collected Durbar then I guess it wouldn't matter about it not being a complete set.

Agreed, but the Marlborough elephants are fantastic!!

Hi does anyone know how many Rewah Elephant carriages Marlborough produced? Is anyone still looking for this set?

Best wishes

Not to quote myself, but I view this one for me like the Silk Road Bridge as a grail item. I just can't seem to capture it. Much like my other love of old movies - the original 4 Charlie Chan films that were lost in the Fox Films fire in 1960s - these sets are just out of reach.

not sure on the exact number made but it’s pretty scarce, my best guess is less than 50 world wide. As for anyone looking for it, I am. Along with a few other elephants and figure sets.

Hi, thanks for the information on possible numbers made. What sets in particular are you after? I have a few duplicates in my collection which I would consider trading for some of the items on my wish list which comprises of:

D145 Kapurthala Officer
D157 Kapurthala Lancers
D125 Street entertainer (featuring a goat balancing on a stick!)
D161 onwards infantry sets
Governor general’s lancers (not sure of set number)

B. Star Collectables

34A Nana of Bithur horse guards with banner
34B Nana of Bithur horse guards

Best wishes
