KC's Bf-109F "Yellow 14" belonging to Capt. Marseille has landed safely on my shelf and it is a real beauty. The figure of Marseille is outstanding in itself but the 109 is just fantastic. KC picked a very colorful version of Marseille's craft and did it great justice. I loved the FW190 KC just did, but I think I like this aircraft even better. Detail, paint, and markings are all superb. This is, simply, a wonderful model and any Luftwaffe (or aircraft) enthusiast will be happy with it, IMO. A great Monday, so far.:D -- Al

Lancer....

Always looked a nice aircraft and you seem to have just confirmed it

Congrats on a great addition! I'd like to add one to my collection but decided to stay with RAF acft due to space, and other, limitations.

Could not find this in 1 32 which is what I use to collect (most a/c) in plastic/resin.

Thanks for confirming my next purchase. Great story behind the pilot;)

Re: Marseille lands - Me 109

I could be wrong but I haven't seen too much buzz about this plane. I had been on the fence about it because I've been spoiled by the wooden ones.

Last night, I was over at my friend Harvey Hammer's house and Harvey has both the wooden version and polystone version of the Desert Me109. I think this may be the best polystone plane I've seen so far so hats off to Andy and crew for a job well done.

In addition, I compared both planes and both Harvey and I agreed that there is not that much difference between the wooden and poly ones whereas with other poly planes I wouldn't have said that.

To make a long story short, I'm going to order one :)

This lack of buzz is an interesting point, Brad. I have been a little confused as to the lack of opinion about the new 109 as compared to the much larger number of postings on the FW190. I know there is a large Afrika Korps contingent as well as aircraft collectors out there, yet very little in the way of comments. Did no one else buy the 109, or like it? That seems hard to believe. -- Al

Al,

That's hard to say. After having seen this plane, I much prefer it to the Fw. I have to think a lot of people purchased it but I still see Treefrog having it, for example.

There was no controversy over the Me109 as there was with the FW190 and it was not being produced at the same time as the FW190 was by another manufacturer. also a desert scheme instead of a ETO scheme probably surprised people who were waiting for an Me109 to be announced.

Looks like it just slipped under the radar :D:D

Those reasons explain it to a degree, but I would have thought the desert scheme 109 of the leading German ace against the Western Allies would have had the North African collectors celebrating. It is a great model and there are going to be some sad collectors if they miss out on this. JMO, but it is a beauty. -- Al

It may also be down to the fact that a lot of the ''buzz'' as has been used on here came from the fact that on its pre release a number found some design faults with the FW and, then another firm announced the release of a FW so, it was bounced about as a topic with lots of people as this was something quite new so many picking up on flaws and another same product announced.

I suppose only certain releases seem to attract this ''buzz'' and maybe whether or not this was a good aircraft it just was one which did not. Someone, recently, did a thread similar to this about the landing craft and nobody really knew why.

Al, sounds like a great plane... how about posting a few pictures of your new purchase.:)

Hi Duke. Wish I could post pictures. Slight problems though; no camera and no knowledge of how to load the pictures. I keep trying to get my daughter, who has the equipment and knowledge, up here to take shots of my collection but she is very busy and we haven't been able to do it yet. Some day... -- Al
