Here is the scoop on the new plastic sets by Marxman. They are doing an 8 man Viet Cong set, 3 or 4 green beret set, 4 falcshenjagers, a couple of mounted normans, a saxon. All will be compatable in size and color to current plastic, Conte, etc. He is doing limited runs of 200 per set. They should be available at the end of October, He did all the sculpting and he will manufactor the sets. If this works out VietNam USMC should be next. As with all plastic I,m on a wait & see basis, but it sounds as if he has got his ---- together.

Well, while I usually applaud new plastic makers and the Vietnam war is long overdue, I have to say if the the photo's of the NVA/Viet Cong are any indication these are not very impressive figures. I see the 4 poses and they are very weak IMO, 3 of the 4 are just cradling their weapons, very similar poses. At $24 per set the quality has to be better. I am aware of the difficulty of producing plastic figures but let's face it, if you are going to do it, do it right.

I'm forced to agree with you about the VIET CONG poses so far,
but don't forget, there's going to be 8 poses, 4 more have still yet, to be reviled?

I have no complaints about the GERM. Paratroopers, good variety of poses and decent sculpting 8/10.

The models of all three sets shown at the show looked good. I thought there was a fifth VC shown there as well. My biggest gripe about the VC is that they seem too big. It seems almost every company makes the Asian figures too large in proportion to actual size. Same with Alamo Mexicans. I thought the Japanese Marx prisoner figure was from the Imperial basketball squad. Same with Conte's Alamo Mexicans. The only true size figure in my opinion is the Marx Alamo figure, holding the gun across his chest, that people consider to be 45mm.
But I digress. I particularly liked the Normans and the German paratrooper models.

I talked to John at the show and he specificlly said he made the VietCong smaller.

Didn't look it. My first thought seeing them was that they were supposed to be special forces guys in disguise.
