Mass Battle Anglo-Zulu War British 80th Foot! (1 Viewer)

I'm more of a collector than a diorama builder so I'm quite content with the regular figures and in my opinion the standard figure is worth more than the MB. I'm interested to see what the Naps MB will be. If they're French, I will pass as I have plenty of those. If they're Russians, I would probably purchase a few and have Michael DeMarco (see http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?54117-Michael-DeMarco-Painting-Services) bring them up to a quality closer to the standard figures. However, I suspect they will be French or English. Just as Germans in WW II sell, French for Naps sell.

I like what FL is doing here although I think the debut MB release, ACW, was better. One thing I could use some clarification on....at the Westcoaster FL event when Matt discussed MB figures he heavily emphasized that the ACW MB figures were not just the same sculpts as existing figures that were painted to a lower standard, but rather they were actually unique figures in some way when compared to their higher priced brethren. Now when I look at the photos of the MB AZW figures it would appear to me that they are the exact same castings as their higher priced cohorts. Has there been a change in the gameplan, or am I wrong?

All in all these are nice figures, especially for those who are handy with brushes. The figures look to be highlight and shadow ready.

We all have different opinions and especially incomes. If FL is doing well with this than more power to them. What hurt FL's prices is when they went from direct selling to going through dealers which may have been good for FL,great for the dealers but not so much for collectors.

I am sorry to say, but not good for collectors?. I am a slow and easy buyer. Buy a couple here and there, maybe at times one at a time. With the dealers, the shipping is for free, if its above $50.00. If you buy directly its gotta be above $100, so automatically you are obligated to buy two. Plus you can not return a piece, if you change your mind. You are stuck with it. One piece comes to mind, FL Zulu14, I did not like how it looked. I stopped in buying more, I kept the piece. But it is nice to have the option of returning it. At this times, it is a nice option.
I really like FL figures, if I bought directly from FL, I would have bought two pieces, been out another $65.00. Again it is nice to have some one willing to take items back. Which are the dealers.

When you bought a figure at $38-$40 direct from FL and paid shipping that was maybe $7-$8 that still made the figure $20 less than what your paying now.Even Matt said in his post that I had a point.

Before this gets out of hand I just want to say that I don't begrudge the dealers from making a living.I would much rather deal with them than having to get my figures straight from China which might take forever. My point is that whenever someone is added to a chain of distribution the price is going to rise. The people I have bought from provide excellent service. When Matt first said that he was going to start distributing through retailers there were people on this forum that said the prices would rise and they were right even though I don't think all the cost increases are because of that.

Hopefully MB Naps will be ready for release this year.

I am in the same boat as you. :salute::

I am not a First Legion collector because of their regular price points, but I would certainly give their mass battle Naps a look, since I have some small paint touchup skill to weather them..Michael

If FL prices can stay between $36-$38 for FL mass battle NAPS I will surely buy some....above $40-42 per figure I will buy more WB or I will simply limit purchases and be forced to buy less product ....Quality of the sculpts and paint quality will also factor into purchasing decisions between FL (mass battle) and WB as well as Kronprinz who sells direct.....There is definitely a market out there for reasonably priced good quality figures....Direct Purchase options usually keep prices reasonable....But we shall see where all this goes soon.....The way prices are going up continually something has to give....That's reality.....Everything has a limit

I am diorama builder rather than collector so the MB range fits more into my figure budget than the higher level figures. The quality of the higher level figures gets lost in the masses so the cost/benefit does not work for me with figures averaging about $70 US. I think it was a good move by FL to get into this market at this time. Chris

First Legion needs to re-release the Russian Taurides or at the very least do them again in the "Mass Battle Series".....We need more of these Russian NAP figures to go with and be compatible with the initial figures....Many FL NAP collectors would really like to add to the existing ranks
