Dear All
Finally we are now going to decal and paint stage during the production process of our first Allied tank, the Matilda. There will be 3 versions for the 1st Australian tank Battalion in New Guinea with 3 different commanders. Following that there will be a British version suitable for the Desert/Crete campaign and a Russian variant.
I hope you enjoy the pictures below and please feel free to email any questions to welcome@gunnclub.co.uk or here on the forum.

Nice but come on TG a version for France of 1940 rather than one for than a gift for the Soviets surely would get more interest !
Of course if you did a KV2 you'd get my interest !

Steve

That Matilda is looking good! I like the inclusion of the driver and commander figures in their respective positions… I’ll wait to see what the Aussie Matilda looks like, but would love a proper British North African version. Echoing Horus’ comment, how come no BEF Matilda from the Battle of France in 1940? The use of the Matildas during the counteroffensive at Arras was one of the few bright spots for the BEF during that campaign

I am a bit conused, a TS company releasing a tank that does not have a cross/swastika on it..........only kidding.

Outstanding, spot on, making something that will rattle our wallets, been waiting for a Matilda for years, excellent idea on the varients, but agree on the 1940 comments, need the Arras varient that rattled 'the Hun', would also like to see them without decals, so we can build up a troop.

There will be a British version for France Steve so no need to fret!

There are plans for a German version as well, which will probably not come as a surprise!

Soooo looking forward to the Crete/Desert versions..lp defend the 3x main airfields at Maleme, Rethymno & Heraklion during the invasion and later used in various attempts to counter-attack the Germans.

Several were knocked out early or got bogged down in riverbeds etc. Some were later recovered and re-entered the fighting by improvised Australian crews.

Wow! This is really exciting news. I have a small bookshelf display of WWII Australians that I've hunted down over the past year. Have an equal amount of Japanese, but no Aussie armor. Can't wait to see the color scheme; mine planned for the jungle.

Like any good toy soldier collector of anything Australia WWII looks like 3 Pacific Matilda for me and with Toddy's comments on the Crete/Desert Matilda most likely some more

Mark

Looks to be a great addition but 3 versions for New Guinea and only one for the desert seems reversed to me. Chris

Who said only 1 Desert seems that TGM have done 3 versions of most of their AFV releases of late

Mark, for some odd reason I was unable to either edit or delete my previous post (11#).

Should have read:

Sooo looking forward to the Crete/Desert versions of the Matilda and crew.

There were 9x 7th Royal Tank Regiment Matilda's deployed on Crete to help defend the 3x main airfields at Maleme, Rethymno & Heraklion during the invasion and later used in various attempts to counter-attack the Germans with some success.

Several were knocked out early or got bogged down in riverbeds etc. Some were recovered and re-entered the fighting by improvised Australian crews.

The few remaining Matilda’s still operating after the 12 days of battle were abandoned after the evacuation which the Germans took advantage of and converting them for their own use. They did a similar thing in the desert converting many Allied vehicles and tanks.

Great that TG are giving collectors of all major theatres the opportunity to add what is an important tank to their collection. A tank which served in every major theatre, throughout the whole war and by so many different operators. Now for the ‘but bit’, there always is a ‘but bit’, but I hope there are multiple France 1940 versions and Allied Western Desert versions, Aussie as well as British.

That’s 7 versions [i think],
1 - France 1940 Version
1 - British Desert Version
3 - 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Australian Tank Battalion new Guinea
1 - Russian Version
1 - German Version – I am assuming it will be a desert campaign version.

Great new for collectors, bad news for the credit card of the collector who has a passion for the Matilda tank, there will be one or more out there. The collector who has to have all of them.

New Matilda’s, the Brummbar’s and some great recent Panzer IIIs and IVs [with hopefully more versions to follow] Thomas Gunn, in my opinion, are leading the way in our hobby when it comes to Armour. These make a change from the conveyer belt of Tigers [I & II] and Shermans.
