May 2021 Figures (2 Viewers)

Dear All
Welcome to May's figure newsletter with some unique and exciting offerings being brought to you by the Gunn team. Unfortunately we have had to increase some of our prices, it seems that post Covid-19 just about every firm has increased their prices in order to make up for the last 18 months of losses.

Air freight has understandably increased and therefore we have swapped to sea freight to keep our costs down. Everybody else also had the same idea and now there is an increased demand for sea freight which has led to a price increase for what was once a relatively heap but slow service. A £1000 shipment has now gone up to £1600. Air fright would have been close to £7000 now as opposed to £2,500 on economy service. Even the company that supply our packing boxes tell us the cost of card has increased by 20% due to Covid and Brexit.
Prices go up, its fact of life, if we don't cover these new costs we won't be here this time next year.

So that's the bad news over, lets start off with some good news in the form of new additions to the Boer war series. We have included some pictures of our South African farmhouse made by Dave Marshall at TM Terrain. We won't be making this as a commercial piece but it will be making it's debut at the London show in December for display and viewing purposes. We have also included pictures of our Highlanders on one of our terrain mats with wagon as a makeshift barricade, we still have a few wagons left for those of you who are inspired by the pictures.

These highlanders look amazing, I can’t wait for my NCO’s to arrive...... I am super excited to see the mounted Boers and other future releases

Hmm they do go fast but I suspect many items have gone to dealers where you might be able to pick up the odd sold out set. With only runs of around 100 its not surprising that they sell out at TG HQ quickly as dealers will have orders to fill so only limited stock can go to those purchasing direct.

I got lucky and got the Panzer tank, two Highlander NCO's to add to the ones already released and the five man German mortar team. I do respond quickly though as its the only way to guarantee getting hold of what you want.

I agree on the dealers and there will be a few for sale with dealers, I missed out on the first SS Troopers marching and managed to get them from a dealer a couple of days later, i called them with a K & C order and asked if they had them and lucky enough they had, but they sold their 3 sets within 4 days.

I think the price rise was correct, I know it may seem like a turkey voting for christmas [as a customer paying more], but we have to remember this is a business and without making money they will not be able to continue.

We have had a lot of requests for pictures of the forthcoming Zulu war figures series, here are some featuring a British officer dealing with a Zulu and another of our new Zulus in attack mode, hope you enjoy them!

That's a great figure. I have the one in the set with the kneeling figure and different flag, and it is really well done with exceptional sculpt/paint.

Ola, I did and you made my day. This is fantastic. Love it and can’t wait to be able to buy them.
Thanks so much fir sharing, it’s so great to see things in the pipeline.
Thanks again
Jas

Mounted 24th officer and Zulus look fantastic. Is this to be Melville and Coghill saving the Colours? That could be a great dio. If you could buy the Colours as an extra?

a good idea maybe also as an additional extra have the option of the colours folded up and in its case as per the historical version of the famous incident maybe have the case ripped with the colours showing to add a bit of colour

Mays release figures arrived today and have mainly been dispatched, the aeroplanes we were due in this month have also been delayed 2 weeks and will now be available in July.
This is due to Covid and the Suez canal - if its not one thing its another!

Thanks for letting us know, must feel like 'herding cats with spaghetti' sometimes. It is always good to be kept in the loop. Look forward to getting my new P III and SS Mortar team.

I received 5 highland reinforcements this week. Exceptional, 3 standing and firing and 2 kneeling. As well as different faces and the standing firing having a blanket roll is the fact that the new sculpts don’t have bayoneted attached. I hadn’t noticed until I set the figures up. Great to have the variety. Well done TG ...... and thank you
Jas
