May Dispatches (1 Viewer)

I think that it is important to note that Maddicus is from PA and somewhat prejudiced.:):) The set is beautiful! I will be looking for some of them in the future.

I have noted again and again to myself and others that K&C seems to get better and better. The faces get more realistic. The colors and technique more vibrant and crisp.

I like them for what they are. They always seem bright and shiny even when they are trying to be dirty.

The armour tread detail has evolved and will proabably continue to.

There will always be disapointment in some people. I certainly have had my share. (Check my Del Prado threads.) Part of the game. I have never been much of a scale modeler so I try not to let those sorts of things bother me.
They are still toys. Sound familiar? It is a hobby, and I have never had so much fun. Thank you Andy and co. Thank all of you on the forum for adding to the color and texture of this amazing hobby!

jrsteel,

I'm with you, I'd love to see more of the good guys (Allies) regardless if they're US, UK Commonwealth and or even Poles!

Carlos

Carlos,

You forgot one of the "good guy" Allies and a very important one at that, the Soviets. Oops I forgot the part about them making a deal with Hitler, invading Poland and slaughtering a bunch of their officers.

I think the ultimate irony is that up until Barbarossa Stalin didn't trust anyone except Hitler. He certainly didn't trust his fellow Soviet (think Gulag).

:)

Actually, if Andy wanted to be safe, he might have done 114th PA ( Collis Zoaves ),who had their uniforms throughout the entire war and were in the forefront of just about every Eastern engagement till after Gettysburg, when they became mostly a headquarters guard...If you like Zoaves units of the ACW, Edmunds toy soldiers has made just about every unit ,in a 6 man glossy marchng sets. Has also done special uniform units ( Iron Brigade, Militia, Irish Brigade )Michael........and for full disclosure, I am from R.I. and Ambrose Burnsides only fan:D

The ACW new figures. Well, they look very nice, and there are some original and action filled poses, like the soldier with bayonet at the ready or the one reaching for a new cartridge or the one drinking. Yes, we have already seen plenty of shooting poses, kneeling or on foot, but how many ways can you really shoot a rifle? There are not that many poses for that, are there? Yes I like Britains movement, but when it comes to ACW, to me K&C's figures look superior. They are superior overall, regardless of poses. Now I would not say the same for Napoleonics, especially when we talk Coldstream Guards. So, to me, one goal for K&C and one for Britains:D. Now I am going back to Little Legion...:D

Come on guys, the dispatches argument is sooooo 2007!;):D

I'm a Civil War collector and I congradulate K&C on their effort to diversify the product available in the marketplace. There isn't much out there representing the early days of the war and I think this is an exciting direction to take. I haven't been a big collector of K&C ACW sets before, but these new ones look promising if one wishes to expand into the early days of the war.

About the comment that was posted that the poses look static and boring, well maybe... but some collectors wouldn't mind building a regiment of standing figures that are being reviewed by their officer. The beauty of this hobby and all the figures available by all the different manufacturers for me is to build different types of scenes with what is available. It gives me creative pleasure. Don't get me wrong, I still believe collectors are free to critique what is released by any company and voice their concerns of what is wanted in the future or what is retired. Customer focus should always be a top priority.

Edmunds makes wonderful ACW sets. Have any of you seen the Union Marine Corp. Band in the Red jackets!:):D:cool:

I think that the Zouave units were some of the most colorful and appealing. Hence the success of the 14th Brooklyn sets produced by CS.

Oops am I allowed to say CS here? Oops I did it again. I am so ashamed:eek:

I bought an Edmunds New York Zoaves set with the two regimental standards for my son Alec, and I have never seen better hand painted flags.

With the new ACW figures, it will be possible to make a respectable and interesting parade with CW026, CW027 and CW035 to CW038.

CW039 is a great looking stand alone figure and CW030 is fantastic.

Finally, I find that it is a good idea to start the Union range with early war uniforms.

Pierre.

We can only wonder what waits in store for this September:D

I don't collect ACW (yet. - Never say Never), but I do agree with Pierre on these figures. In addition, and this is just my personal preference, I like the uniforms from the early days of any conflict, ACW, AWI, WWI, etc., before everyone began looking, hmmm - uniform. Of course this is a generalisation, no-one less "uniform" than ACW Rebs, late WWII Germans, .....????.....:confused: (Heid, what are you drivelling on about this time..??)

Ummm.....Thank You and Goodnight.....:eek::eek::eek:

Cheers :)

Having read this entire thread - Ugh  - I hate being away from the forum for long periods of time - I have to agree with the outstanding releases that K&C has brought us this month !

The Civil War releases are an interesting and very much appreciated - especially when they dont have patches on the pants or shirts, this makes it hard to build multiple figures in a unit when they all have the same patch on the pants !

Union figures are very colorful and will make an interesting conversation piece in a display. I agree about bring out something "new" - we do have plenty of plain union figures and black hats, ect.... from the other producers.

I personally like the Ak release and look forward to more. :D

The early part of the War is just as telling. Patriotism was high for both side! Enthusiasm was rampant barely containable. I do not understand the hesitancy of manufacturers not to produce stuff like this before. The Volunteer groups that were involved says a lot about the emotions involved. Not to mention the important part that various ethnic groups played in it.
Any one and I mean anyone can make late war Confederacy units. Any ole rag will do for a uniform. But how many Washington Artillery sets do you see? I am glad for the early uniforms and look forward to seeing more. How about the Jagers with Pickelhaubes. True story guys look it up.

I agree with Pierre and Harry here.I like the early War uniforms myself. If i had any spare dosh to layout i could be tempted by these figures very easily. As Harry said often early War stuff is cool,i think a great example is the French Uniforms of WW1,very distinctive if a little easy to shoot at!
