So is there gonna be more than a few dealers ?? I heard Minutemen and Hobby Bunker won’t be there this year

We have several dealers who could not make the show because of scheduling conflicts. Our traditional show dates have always had potential to conflict with events like Mothers' Day (this weekend) and college graduations especially.

This year, we have 1 graduation; 3 vendors moving, either a residence or a store; and a vendor with a senior parent with some issues, to mention a few. All have said they expect to be back next year. We have some new vendors, though, too.

This year is also a World Expo year; the expo is in Versailles this time. So we don't expect to see as many of the European painters this year. However, in World Expo years, we tend to see more American painters exhibit. So we'll see how the exhibition goes.

Prost!

I don’t think any regular dealers will be there this year. I’m going but not expecting a lot.

I attended the show yesterday. I always enjoy seeing what people create and yesterday was no exception. Many creative people.

As for the dealer part of the show, my only comment is that in 20 years going to shows I have never been to a show where there was not one piece from any of the major manufacturers being sold.

Not good News but glad you enjoyed the art anyway

I just returned from the show. Speaking for me personally, it was a great show. The exhibit area did suffer from the absence of European and Canadian exhibitors this year. But their absence was made up for by the many fantasy painters that participated with outstanding figures. I have seen no MFCA show with this many under 30 years olds. It was great to see. Furthermore, to see these budding painters congregate in the hallways and shared spaces was a fresh breath into this hobby (broad term).

The mart clearly suffered from the absence of an offering of commercially mass produced toy soldier figures. Frankly, I was ok with that. We are loosing an opportunity to see the figures in the flesh, but - let’s be honest here - we shop for figures online anyway. A show seller will never have the inventory an online seller will have. I don’t think the MFCA wants to be the BestBuy for Amazon.

Where the show did excel is in the sale of second hand and antique items. Further, a seller for AK products was attending the show for the first time and his extremely well stocked store was always mobbed.

I guess what I am saying is that if you came to shop as a typical toy soldier collector, you might have been disappointed. If you came to see the top artists in the miniature sculpting and painting hobby, you came to the right place. The discussions I had were amazing and I made so many more connections. Because of this outstanding experience, I am seriously considering going to Versailles for the World Model Expo in July.

Great pictures, Thanks for posting, Andy

and I naturally like the German Tank , Tank Commander and looks like a FJ Tank rider the best

The mart, as one person has labeled it, used to be a great show when it was at Valley Forge. I made some terrific finds of hard to find items there over the years. As an example, I found a rare K & C wooden Hurricane that the seller was practically giving away. One year I found several sets of rare Trophy Indian Army sets. At last look I don’t believe Best Buy or Amazon carried such items.

The Show had a mixture of retired figures and new figures and it was a show that many of us looked forward to go. It used to attract dealers from all over the country. Some collectors (probably newer types) can’t really appreciate what a great show it was. My favorite show after Chicago. It lost a bit of its luster when it moved to its present location. As the Show has now evolved it’s doubtful that I will attend next year.

I am sorry to have missed this one this year b/c I like the artist room. I enjoy the talent and it gives me ideas sometimes for commissions! I agree with Brad (Jazzeum) though on what the vendor mart used to be. It was a race to get there at Friday noon. Like every show, it needs customers, but I will probably go until I can't!

Unfortunately things aren’t what they used to be but you can that about a lot of things. Things change, they evolve.
