after their 1-4 start.

Wow.

That was quick. Now I fully understand after the Howard trade and the signing of 104 year old Steve Nash that people expected the Lakers to go 82-0, but firing a guy after 5 games seems a bit harsh to me.

And get ready for it.................................ready?..............................yes, Phil Jackson is rumored to be interested in returning to coach the Lakers.

Wow, what a shocker.

Phil is the only guy I know who was born on third base and thinks all his life he hit a triple.

Michael Jordan and Pippen, Shaq and Kobe, now the new dream team; have to give Phil credit, the man loves a coaching "challenge", now doesn't he.

Hey Phil, why don't you step up at coach the Bobcats so we can really see what a great coach you are.

Brown was clearly in over his head competing at a championship level. The Lakers were 0-8 in preseason and 1-4 to start the year. This is a team with Kobe and Dwight Howard. I'm not a big Phil Jackson fan, but maybe it's better to be lucky than good. And I have to believe the Lakers have someone big ready to take over to drop the axe so quickly. Should be interesting now as you can only fire so many coaches.

I think it'll still be a great challenge to get top results out of a newly assembled team of older players, many past their best and injury prone, albeit quality players. But the Lakers are not the only ones with quality players... The challenge is certainly to compete for and win the championship, nothing less, and that is a big challenge for sure...The Heat, Okc, the Spurs and others are in the way. And how about those revived Knicks?

Earliest firing of an NBA coach in about 40 years.

The Jackson hiring was in the works before the firing.

Guaranteed.

Mike D'Antoni hired. Very strange going ons in Lakerland. Jackson apparently was going to accept. He has some health problems which would have restricted some of his travel. Maybe that was the deal breaker. Kobe likely had a say as well.

Phil has back, knee and hip issues, was going to coach home games and limited away games, that's not going to work....................

They hired D'Antoni. I have my doubts how that will work out but I guess we'll see.
