This is my new Hiriart set of the 2nd REGIMENT ETRANGERE PARACHUTISTES that I received this week from Uruguay. The standard catalog set 1222, which I don't have, has the figures standing rather than marching.

Another new Hiriart set is a special version of catalog set 1268 US MARINE CORPS LANDING PARTY, 1900, which I picked up a year or so ago. The new set is a color party which normally has eight men, but I ordered mine with three extra men, as shown. The last photo is a stock photo of the eight figure color party set. NB: One of the color sergeants is at left shoulder arms as is the standard in the various branches of the US military.

This is my new Hiriart set 1256 WORLD WAR I DEUTSCHE GENERALSTAB, 1914 with HINDENBURG and LUDENDORFF. Actually, Fred really liked this set, so I let him have it and have reordered it for me. So, I only had it for about week.

Also in the February Hiriart delivery was catalog set 1262 WORLD WAR I ITALIAN INFANTRY, 1915. The original catalog set came with an officer and eight men; the current catalog version is a much more attractive set with the addition of a flag bearer and trumpeter to my minds eye. I don't believe that any other manufacture has made World War I Italian Infantry in their Adrian helmets, but Beau Geste did make them in their kepis.

This is my new Hiriart special set 1329 ESCUELA POLITECNICA, GUATEMALA. The standard catalog set, which I also have, has the figures in gray tunics; I ordered this special version with dark blue tunics. The last photo is a stock photo with the standard nine figures. I also ordered one extra man, not shown, for the empty space in the third row.

The 4th Madras Lancers' light blue uniforms are very attractive. I am not surprised Al (lancer) that you like Indian lancers.

Mike
Mike, I love Indian lancers. I have a collection of some 4 dozen Somerset made lancers, split among 5 lancer regiments and 2 camel regiments. The lancers include the 1st Skinner's and the 27th Light cavalry. The 27th uniforms are almost identical to your 4th Madras, being the French gray unis. Lancers are just beautiful to look at. -- Al

The Somerset lancers (all their figures actually) are first-rate. Hiriart has just three Indian lancer sets in their catalog, but Bob W. and I are planning on using a non-catalog set of the 9th Bengal Lancers with an officer and four men as the basis for ordering various other regiments.

In February, I also received Hiriart set 1185 REGIMENT ETRANGERE CAVALERIE TIMBALIER, 1923. This is a companion set to 1180 R.E.C. which has an officer, bugler, and three men. There is an infantry set, 1167, also in the Legion's 1923 uniforms which has a mounted officer, foot officer, flag bearer, and five men. I now have all three sets in my collection.

Man do I love the way Hirart does those vehicle sets Mike!
I could see you putting together a nice little armored fist, motorcycles, anti tank, scene from poland or France during the blitzkrieg

Thanks Ray, there is a certain charm to these die cast Hiriart vehicles, although there are not a lot of them. The Blitzkrieg idea would make an interesting display. I already have the Panzer II set, both motorrad sets with five single and three sidecar motorcycles, and the PAK 35/36 set. In 2017, I am ordering a early-war Wehrmacht Panzer 35(t) in dunkelgrau which would also make a nice addition to the display.

Mike
