I picked up four unboxed East of India Greek Phalanx sets on eBay recently. They were ACG02, ACG03, ACG06, and ACG08. The boxes in the background are from the three Greek Phalanx sets that I already had. One more to go---AGC07.

I recently picked up this unboxed Bastion Models set on eBay: FRENCH COLONIAL INFANTRY. The set is missing one figure and I don't know what the set number is.

Mike,
Glad to see your interest in Greeks.
Have you ever seen this list of East of India figures?

Thanks,

My interest in collecting goes way beyond just Greeks. I collect toy soldiers from most European and South American powers. However, that being said, you are aware that I have commissioned numerous Greek sets from Hiriart including Balkan War, World War I, and World War II Greek infantry, cavalry, sailors, gendarmerie, pack mule trains, and mountain artillery. So, I have not short changed the Greeks in my collection.

Unfortunately, I don't have or remember seeing a list of East of India figures.

Mike

This is a recent auction pick up from Andrew Rose's Wessex line: Set BOER 2, Z.A.R.P.S. BOER POLICE. I actually had this set before, but sold it to Bob W. last year. As usual, I later regretted it and have fortunately found another set to replace it which I am keeping.

I recently won four boxed Tradition sets at auction . The first is set 16b FRENCH COLONIAL INFANTRY, 1916. I have also picked up on eBay three more unboxed Bastion Models sets and three more World War II mahogany warbirds which I have not yet found time to photograph.

I just received these toy soldiers from an eBay auction I won. They are from Toy Soldiers of Scandinavia and represent Danish and Prussian regiments from the Danish-Prussian War of 1864. I became interested in this obscure (at least from an American's perspective) war, which resulted in Prussia seizing the lower part of the Jutland peninsula from Denmark, after seeing a Danish TV production on U-Tube. I highly recommend checking it out; the battle scenes are very well done, especially the Prussian artillery bombardment of the Danish trenches and the subsequent hand-to-hand fighting in the trenches.

There are 8 figures from the Danish 20th Regiment, 3rd Brigade and 6 figures from the Prussian 3rd Guards Regiment, as shown in these stock photos.

I really like these. Very unusual subject and the figures are really well done and painted. -- Al

Hi Brendan,

I am not smart enough to know how to do that, but from Google's main page you can click on "apps" in the upper right hand corner (nine dots arranged 3 x 3). Then click on U-Tube and in the search box type "Danish-Prussian War 1864." You will get dozens of hits; many from the series I was referring to. I suggest you click on the 53 minutes 50 seconds episode entitled "1864 Battle of Dybbol." There are also shorter (5 minute) battle sequences taken from the 53 minute episode if you don't want to watch the longer version, but after watching one or two of them, I suspect you will want to see the longer 53 minutes offering. BTW, the production values on this Danish TV series are very high. You won't be disappointed.

Very nice figures! I think they are a special commission to King & Country. The mini series is great.

That is interesting. Did King & Country ever offer them for sale? I noticed that many of the dioramas for sale on the Toy Soldiers of Scandinavia website are from K&C.

In the Hiriart May delivery that I received four days ago, I had just one set for my collection. It was set 1389 WWII GERMAN PANZERJAEGER MARDER III. I haven't taken it out of the box yet, just unwrapped the various parts and figures. I am going to have to super glue several small pieces that came off during shipping from Uruguay. The AFV is die cast metal with no plastic or resins.

No, there were never part of K&C range, but the style and their boxes and the fact that K&C accepts special commissions make me think that they are made by K&C. Maybe Mr Nielson can clarify the matter.

You may be right that they were a special commission from K&C.

This is an auction pick up of Tradition Set No. 53 ROYAL SCOTS FUSILIERS 1895. The quality of the sculping and painting on this set is first-rate (e.g., the detailed faces and the eyes in particular). The box had a price sticker of $85.00 and was from price group D.
