Does anyone here collect Militaria: Napoleonic, Victorian, First World War, Second, Vietnam, Iraq?

Any items: guns, uniforms, medals, radios, helmets, equipment, anything?:)

Or is anyone else here a second world war reenactor and has original pieces of equipment and uniform and such?:)

My reenactment group, Normandy 44, only use original equipment, no repro stuff except for some uniforms and m41 jackets which are too expensive to wear. All the guns we use are deacts, except for events where blank firers are used.

Our group also has original vehicles which is quite cool!:D A Chaffee (used to have two but sold 1), 3 shermans which belong to a millionaire who lends them to us for events, 3 halftracks, 5 dodges, couple of willys jeeps, a weasel, jimmy truck, dodge ambulance, trailers and other stuff:)

I have my standard infantryman's kit minus garand belt which broke! Doughboy pack, first aid pouch x2, canteen and cover, folding shovel and cover, wire cutters and pouch, and M1 Bayonet and scabbard all war time dated!

Also got an American brown greatcoat which has a soldier's army number on it! Again war time dated! Pair of Gaiters, waterproof rifle cover, gas mask bag, poncho, bandolier all wartime dated!

Original M1 Helmet with liner, had original liner but it was rusted off so got another one put in by J Murray

Repro Hbt cap, hbt trousers and jacket:eek:

Original BC-1000 Radio, radio hanrness, harness belt, repro pad for radio, original strap for radio, original antennas, an-130, and an-131, original handset and original accessories bag!:D

And vietnam dated mess tin, and USAAF shirt with name MIZER on it and (what I think are) sergeants stripes. Trying to get that sold but!:)

Cheers, Scott:D

I collect mainly ww2 badges and medals, mostly German, but do have some others.also have a number of daggers and a few rifles and pistols.no tanks though, think that would get me thrown out.medals are main focus as of now,and that's expensive enough. Too many to list.

I collect weapons and medals. Have been trying to accumulate weapons of the type used by family members and ancestors. So far have managed to obtain Lee Enfield no 4 and bayonet and 0.38 Smith and Wesson as used by myself (RAF), 0.38 Enfield pistol as used by brother (2nd Dragoon Guards [ Queen's Bays]), Lee Enfield no1 and bayonet as used by father (WW1, Norfolk regiment and Royal Fusiliers), Martini Henry carbine, great uncle (Imperial Yeomanry), Enfield rifle musket and bayonet, great, great uncle (ACW, unknown unit) and 1796 Light Cavalry sabre, great to the fourth power grandfather (12th Light Dragoons, Egypt 1801)

I Collect Armor and Cavalry Insignia and patches. I have orginals for all the US Armor insignia going back to WWI. With my Cavalry Insignia I go back to just prior to the ACW. Also have my CVC and a 45 holster and other bits from my family and my own service.

of the items were brought back from my

Extremely mate, and extremely rare too!:D

Mine came with both antennas, handset and bag, and the harnesses are also really rare, but lately theere has been a surge of them on ebay usa, still waiting for stencil panel to replace the Italian writing on the panel, and strap for carrying the radio by hand, and I am contemplating whether or not to make it working as I could get a battery for it!:D

Statement of Charges incoming!!!! :D:D:eek:

No militaria or reenacting for me. Nothing against anyone who does it as I think they do a fantastic job keeping history alive but for me to run around in American uniforms with medals, tabs, etc on that I didn't actually earn, just feels wrong to me.

Now, that being said, I have "acquired" some stuff over the years- a modern bayonet and two full scale tactical maps which I use to teach the boy scouts land nav with.:eek:

I don't wear medals, but maybe you are referring to the modern era guys. I do Rev war.

Lol I would never wear medals, and have never met anyone who has!:D

Lol I feel we owe it to people who fought during the war to put ourselves in their shoes, even if its just for a day, wear their equipment, physically feel what they felt, hear what they hear. I understand that there is no way that one can feel what those who fought in the war felt, but we can try and I feel that by trying we are paying homage to their rememberance!:)

I cannot speak for reenactors who do German, although most I have met are ex British military personell who just fancy a change, but for me it is just feels wrong and is just something for our guys to aim at during battles:pBut I do know that the public are fascinated with Germans, uniforms, equipment, guns, vehicles....But they love it when we allied units give them a good thrashing!:D;)

Just my views:)

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is currently selling WWII bayonets of about eight different manufaturers, $65 ea includes shipping. I've ordered several. :D They go for much more on the open market. Only problem is you order without seeing the actual item. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get a very worn piece.

Bought several M1s and carbines from CMP and usually had great results.

Several militaria shows in the local area each year. Fun to walk around and see all of the equipment and weapons from all periods. Usually over priced but you can find some good deals and bargain with the vendors.
