MLB 2025 (2 Viewers)

Can we just skip the drama and fit Paul Skenes for a Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Giants etc. uniform?

I hope he strays a Pirate even if that means he doesn’t become a Giant.
Unlike Skubal he’s not a free agent until 2030 so he’s not going anywhere until 2029, plus Boras is not his agent. If the Pirates want a hope of keeping him, they better build a team around him.

Pirates and building a team should never be used in the same sentence.

It's a fun idea though, but not happening.

Baseball is the one sport of the haves (Yankees/Mets/Phillies/Dodgers) and the have nots (everyone else).

Pirates used to have one of the best farm league systems in the game, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Today's MLB has changed, small market teams will win once every blue moon. Large caps take all.

You know what is ironic, think about today's salary and then think back - Pirates Dave Parker was the first $1M man and paid by the Pirates!

George:

Your post truly sums up the state of MLB.

Like you said a few years ago, those small market teams that have made the playoffs in the past 20 years make great stories but none of them are going to win it all.

Edwin Diaz and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a deal, league source tells The Athletic.

Nice to see the Dodgers finally open their wallets.

This is a total clownshow now, just give them the title for 2026 already and call it a day.

That sounds good to me.

Dodgers fans dancing up a storm after blitzkrieging the league in 2026 with their 750 billion dollar payroll, but hey, it's within the rules, so all good.

You go Dodgers, we're all pulling for you.

I guess they could have cheated but this way it still counts.
Right, no tweaking of the salary rules, deferring payments on contracts for the next 150 years, Ohtani's grandkids will be getting his checks into their 60's.

That glass house you live in must be hot as balls in the Summer, but nice and toasty warm in the Winter, so you've got that going for you.

Alonso to the Orioles, 5/155 million.

Wonderful.

The Red Sox ownership does not care about winning, they act like a small market team now.

Great.

Sox made the right decision, as did the Mets. Pete’s offense has been declining except last year. In his walk year he was terrible. Mets and probably Sox were not going to go past three as he’s getting older and his defense is average at best. Os made an unexpected five year offer. Good luck to them in years three and after.

I'll defer to you on this one being a Mets fan and seeing him everyday.

What annoys me about Red Sox management is they talk a good game "We need a power bat in the middle of the line up, a guy that can hit home runs" and they make fans think they are "in" on players like Alonso and Schwarber, then they sign elsewhere.

Stop writing checks with your mouth that you can't cash.

Henry the owner is happy as a clam banging out the ballpark every night, filled with mostly tourists and fans of other teams, he's not fully invested as far as winning, he's just happy if they are above 500 and are sniffing at the playoffs once and awhile.

If he feels that way, sell the team............oh right, he's making a fortune off of the team, so why sell it.
