Modelzone Exclusive Private Samuel Wassall Saving Private Westwood Set UP DATE

I was in my local MZ shop over the weekend and I asked if there was a release date for the next exclusive, The deputy manager said that they are due in early January and over half the allocation has already been pr-ordered so if you haven't pre-ordered it yet do it soon, if there is not a shop near you you can order it from the croydon store as they do nearly all the overseas mail order, tel 0208 688 6519, email croydon@modelzone.co.uk.

Best of luck

I preordered the set and then found out that shipping is almost as much as the set with a total cost of $318.00 to Florida. So trying to cancel the order. They should offer alternative shipping methods for international orders.

Hi Who did you contact ??, I don’t see how they can quote you a price for shipping when the set has not been released and they don’t know the weight for it, ring or email the croydon store ask for one to be reserved and they will let you know the exact cost of shipping once it’s in stock there will be no problem if you want to cancel the order if the shipping is too expensive.

Ask for Stephen B

Best of luck

Thanks for the information ANSAR.
Looking at the past three orders I've placed with them for WBEs I don't think the actual shipping is going to be as high as what was on the order confirmation.

I did send mail to cancel, but never got a reply, the order is still on my account so I decided to keep the set ordered.

Shipping on the confirmation was 83.99 BP or ~$131.00 which is insane when I have shipped to the UK many times for about $20 for ~7 day delivery for about what the set should weight. I know it would be more from UK to US, but 5 times more is a bit much. I think the issue is it gets handed off to DHL verses US Postal. DLH is expensive and the only option they use.

We'll see how it turns out, I hope it's not my last order placed with Modelzone.

Thanks again.

That's the default shipping [Parcel Force Global Express, I think]. They'll ask you what you
prefer when the time comes. At least they do me.

I hope so.

I received the set today.
The price billed was $186.84, considerable less than what I thought I was going to have to pay.

Both figures on the horse and the base have a gloss clear coat on them which I thought was odd.
Anyone else notice this on their set?

They didn't ask me and were quite prepared to charge me £69.95 for shipping :eek::eek::eek: Sorry but that is daylight robbery !!!. Thankfully my card had expired so they couldn't charge me. I emailed directly and ordered mine.

Hi Guys - Wassall, Westwood and the horse had all been in the river, so parts of the base, horse and figures are glossed to represent this recent exposure to water. Might be a case of too much realism, but I thought it added a nice touch of reality to the situation.

Hope that answers your questions. Thanks!

Now that I understand why the gloss I think you did a fine job with the wet look.
Thanks for the information.

I received mine also. Same dollar amount. One of the reasons for the lower amount is they
deduct the 21% VAT, which is nice. Thus, I don't worry about shipping. Especially two day
Express. Then no customs tax or sales tax at my end.

Quite a nice figure. Not balanced well for a stand alone display. Big on one end, small on the
other with a big void in the middle. Really glad I got it. Faces were sculpted and painted rather well.

Thanks lenswerks for the photos it's a pass for me on the set.....Joe

Seeing "The Lt." pass on a Britains Zulu War Set is rather unique.
What happened, Joe?

Just received mine and it is very nice, much better in the flesh. I was expecting a glossy mess but it is quite subtle. My only concern would be (and I never though I would say this) is that horse may be a tad small? Going from memory, comparing to the mounted Zulu and I thought he was a little over scale but I will see when I get home.

I'm looking forward to your pictures Scott, perhaps a comparison of the two horses;)

Cheers

Martyn:)
