Why can,t we have a seperate thread that is not moderated, something like Adults Only, Read at Your Own Risk, Etc.
Most of the regular posters on TF,s have been on this site for years. I have made many friends thru this site. So if you don,t want to be offended, whatever term you want to use, you simply don,t read this.
I posted a national news story that was deleted because it was deemed inappropriate. Now if this could be national news how could it be inappropriate?
Not trying to be a rabble rouser, but we live in a REAL world where some people would like to express real world feelings.
Granted I don,t operate this site, but I have come to know a lot of people living all over the world that I would truely like to communicate my opinions.
Yes I can PM them which I do, but I would want others to weigh in. And yes this is a toy soldier message board, but again I have formed relationships thru this "toy soldier board" that I would like to expand.

A separate ...log in..AO forum ......a protection against younger members from entering forum.....a good idea but like all things anywhere ,someone will abuse it and ruin it......my thought only...cheers TomB

I would support an adults only section (I turned 18 recently). While I think our wonderful mods have a good point, it might also let people blow off steam which is now reserved for other threads.

It would rely on self censorship. You would need to acknowledge to yourself that what you are posting is unacceptable for the main Forum. If you have the capacity to do that you would probably refrain from posting in the first place. In addition, eventually someone would say 'let's take this to the unmoderated section' as a new version of the schoolyard 'let's take it down the back'.

Not been over there in a while , had to stop looking in as I was always getting into arguments, mostly my fault to be fair. :rolleyes2: Just last week someone pm'd me to say have you seen how G and H are slagging you off now ? Nope. If I were to read these things I doubt I could resist getting stuck in and round we go again.Life is too short. In the past I've argued with Oz, Mitch, Capitol Ron, Ludwig, Wayne etc etc,(again mostly my fault or my pride's fault) but I still consider some of these folk friends and try to get on better with them now. The last London shindig helped cement in me the idea that it's just not worth arguing with anyone anymore as the hobby is packed to the rafters with good genuine people. Finally in life there will always be people you don't see eye to eye with, you have to concentrate your energies on those you do get on with. Funnily enough it was Mitch who said to me once (probably during an argument^&grin)that you can't be friends with everyone...and I think he may have been right!

So if Harry, Bill or Rod are looking in .....I send you one of these:salute:: And hope life is treating you well^&cool

G & H could be a new drink at the next London show!!! Not sure who G & H are though!!!! I think we were not having words when I said that to you about not trying to be everyone's friend though I think the context is/was clear.

Not to disagree and have arguments or try to ensure it does not happen is artificial and doomed to failure as its a normal part of everyday life. most of my income derives from arguing with people in writing or orally albeit, not in a heated sense and, I was trained by some of the best!!!

when you try to enforce civility you get what happens here sometimes hit and run abuse or, hidden in PM far better to have it out in the open and sorted maturely and I think that is kind of what Gary was getting at

If the worst thing someone says to you is your a blind sheep who buy's crap toy soldiers, inbreeds or over priced junk!!! then count yourself (a collective ''yourself'' obviously) lucky. If that type of thing can bother you to the extent it takes over your life after logging out then barricade your doors and hide from the real world as your in for more shocks. Take time out and watch some Bernard Manning or Chubs Brown and get some perspective on what insults are.

If it bothers you then its rather more down to the individual more than the person allegedly saying the abuse they want a rise and are glad when they get one as it shows they have hit a nerve. Its why I can still not understand how anyone can get upset over toy soldiers. My room is full of what people call crap or overpriced junk and stuff that people ''hate''

Yeah I'd have to agree with ya Pete, I think it would be inevitable we'd see a 'spill over' and see a migration of ill feeling work there way into other threads. The forum already experiences some of that now and we've all seen how that usually ends up.

To be honest, I think an uncensored section would create nothing but trouble and give the mods a huge headache.

A new unmoderated section really wouldn't change that, just provide an area where it could be more openly addressed and perhaps even alleviated. Pretending bad feelings do not exist does very little to relieve or avoid them and if anything, probably makes them worse.

Why in the world do we need an "Adult Discussion" forum for "toy soldier collectors?{eek3} As stated there are already self moderated forums out there that are nothing more than pure anarchy. Been tried unsuccessfully and still trying unsuccessfully...:rolleyes2: Michael

Having been a moderator here, plus currently a member of a jazz forum that has a political section (where things can get nasty), I don't think it's possible to have an un-moderated section.

I wouldn't mind a politics section but I know Pete and Shannon don't want to do that and I understand their decision; they have enough to do anyway, what with the usual squabbles that break out from time to time.

Bad feelings and acrimony may exist -- and where have I heard this little soliloquy before :rolleyes2: -- but providing an unmoderated section would only exacerbate them.

You have a way with words Mr Jazzem....now I will have to go and look up their meaning,,,but I have a feeling I agree with you.....what is that old saying " Give 'em a yard and they will take a mile"....my idea of an AO section would be more a girlie type pin up section...old style picture card thingo's etc ..... no Porn...and no acrimony...whatever that means......cheers TomB (joke)
