More eBay stupidity (1 Viewer)

Terry, yes there is something you can do about it...BLOCK HIM, from bidding....oKay..he's your high bidder..SO WHAT...I've had to block my best buyer..he would give me 1's on my DSR's for no GOOD reason...I lost my Top Rate Sellers rating because of him...In the end, it cost me more $ losing my eBay discounts than any profit I made from my "BEST BUYER" ....drop him...if every eBay seller would do that to guys like this, than THAT would send a message...and Maybe..just Maybe...sellers would'nt get screwed by eBay because of these jokers ...

Paul,
couldn't agree more with your post, it is very true.

What concerns me is next I will get a warning from ebay for banning people, that will be their next move - you cannot ban people from bidding!!

We shipped an eBay item in September (with signature confirmation). In October, the buyer wrote to say he never got the item. I tracked it, and it was delivered and signed for. The guy still claims he didn't get it. I confirmed the address - it was correct. So he started a claim with eBay, but after I showed the eBay rep the tracking info eBay immediately sided with me and closed the claim.

A week later, I get positive feedback for the item (even though he still says it's not delivered).

Today I got an eBay message from the buyer, once again asking for his money back for the 'lost' package.

Weird.

USPS Insurance is worthless. I had a customer in Canada who received a damaged figure. It took months to get a check. Priority Mail International is insured automatically, but only for part of the stated value. I have had good luck using insurance through Stamps.com. I filed a claim and it was paid within 10 days. They now offer insurance on overseas mail too. If an international buyer files a claim for an item, eBay will only except a priority mail delivery confirmation number as proof it was send. They will not even consider your side if you ship USPS 1st class mail even though the US customs number is now scanned when an item is delivered.

Canada Post insurance seems to work although I have only used it once. The insurance protects me as the Seller, . The item arrived slightly damaged - the buyer sent photos. We agreed on a 50% refund of the bid price. I phoned Canada Post to put in a claim for 50% and it was paid within 7 days plus the postage was refunded too.

Maybe that works domestically Marc but overseas you're at the mercy of the several post offices. Good luck on that. Domestically, I never use the USPS and I mean never. It's only UPS. I find the tracking tool of the USPS completely useless. With UPS, I can track shipping progress.

Good point Brad as the International system is without a doubt a total debacle at times and TEAM BROWN does have the superior tracking service hands down. As of late I have brought an item to the UPS store along with a proper box and just paid the extra $5.00 or so for them to pack it and shoulder the liability for damage.

TSB,

Many thanks for the Stamps.com idea as I will have to look into that. Happy to hear you have had good luck with them!

Yup....sooner or later every seller is going to get hit. Myself, I've come to expect it...What's the killer, is the loss of the 20% discount, in my case that add up to $180 this month alone,....I've talked to eBay reps about the way they calculate the discounts, "by percent sold" they say. I explain that I could get my 20% back faster if I just closed my account and started all over again as that would be the fastest way to get back my discounts ( in one month) where as it will take me more than half a year to get my discount back, going with their % caculation method. What a joke.....but I'm not laughing...

Dear "Jazzeum":

Generally, I have had good luck with USPS Tracking. Of course no shipping service is always 100% perfect.

Al, great advice! I think I am going to try the U-pick insurance option and still offer the first class mail option.

First Class Mail has really been a boost for international sales.

Yes, took me 3 months to receive $600 from Germany Post Office.....what a mess!

I ship via FedEx in the US no problem.

I use USPS for international and a private insurance company which covers item and postage.

I have an excellent relationship with Paypal after 13 years, and am mindful
of "problem" buyers and avoid them.:D
