A few more goodies for you all to digest - Late War Germans from Konigsberg, the Last of our coverage of the Auxiliary Legion Flavia Bessorum, and the Tank Crew for the Elephant/Ferdinand. Though, the latter can be used for really any vehicle.

And yes, First Legion will eat the tariffs on these to make them available to our American customers. You're welcome. And not only that, while some companies have committed not to raise prices, we're going the other way - for the LWG Germans and TC Tank Crew, we're rolling back prices to 2014 levels on these figures. I feel like Crazy Eddy, our prices are I N S A N E (shocked if anyone gets that reference). I guess I'm old.

Anyhoo - here is the latest batch of new stuff from First Legion. The KUR Infantry and Ferdinand as well as the PIR Ship Deck will be shipping sometime in the next 2 weeks, the GERSTAL Previously Announced along with all of these new goodies, will ship closer to end of May. Please note, ship times for US customers will be about 10 days later due to the import process. For non-US Customers, where we can and where it makes sense, we'll ship from Asia. So for example, the KUR010 Ferdinand, can ship today from Asia, but not until middle May from the USA. It's a complex world we live in and we're doing our best to navigate it in a way that benefits our customers without completely crippling ourselves.

Fantastic tank riders—these have been a long time coming! Hopefully they’ll be available individually in the future for those of us with tanks armed with 7.5cm or 5cm guns, since not everyone’s riding with an 88!

First, they're tank crew, not riders. Second, they are only available as a full set. We have no plans to make them individually available.

Is it just me or does the German figures have a different “style” or “sculpt” compared to the other first legion figures.

I was wondering about the style question myself. I received two Thirty Years War figures yesterday from Minuteman and the faces seemed a tad darker. From purchasing St. Petersburg figures I know that there are two styles of painting, Spanish (darker) and Russian (what were used to). The figures weren’t Spanish style but a little darker, as I mentioned. Not only that but FL had changed their logo (for whatever that’s worth).

Brad:

Super interesting observations.

I am looking forward to FL’s response.

If you've been collecting FL for some time, you will have noticed that they have changed sculptors several times over the years sometimes the move is a great improvement sometimes not.

This batch definitely have a different look no doubt.

I'd be surprised if the same person did the new WSS Kursk figures which I really like but I could just be blinded by my love of the action of the poses and the quality of the painting of the camo which both look great IMO.

I think what you're seeing is sculpt modeling differences between artists. Stylistic diversity will often be apparent with different artists within facial characteristics for example, whether digital or manual sculpting, especially when the detail is very fine as with FL. For what it's worth, the new group of LWG figures appear to have been modeled by the same artist as the last batch of LWG figures that preceded it.

Joe:

Thanks, great insights and info.

BTW, the figures in question look fantastic.

That mounted Roman Legate looks brilliant.

I also really like the teenage Volksgrenadier and the Volksgrenadier pulling the ammo crate. Very nice poses on them.

The Panzergrenadier with the Panzerfaust and MP-44 looks excellent, really nice face and paint job. H’d look even better without the helmet decals, and the MP-44 mag pouches are backwards. The concave side of the pouches should be towards the outside of the body.

For the Elefant crew, my initial reaction was the sculpts look more in line with what I would expect from War Park, just painted to a higher level. Some of the body proportions look a little thick to me.

I really like the figure holding the cannon round. I also really like the different uniform selection, as no one ever seems to do the later style Panzer Wrap and Heer one piece coveralls. Also the fact they are grey uniforms, so work better for all my Stugs. Lastly, at $65 a figure, I’ll buy them and reserve final judgement until I have them in hand.

Overall a useful set of releases.

I share your sentiment on the Kursk SS figures. They look brilliant and I ordered them all. I do wish FL had used Waffen SS camo on the rolled up shelter halves. Looks like the factory mistakenly did the m in splinter camo.

SOAB !!! Your 100% right I didn't even look at the back of the figures the zelts are painted in Splinter

Just a little remark about Kursk Waffen SS figures : I wonder why all bases have this rocky appearance because Kursk battlefield was essentially grassy steppe.

A few comments here - we aren't crazy about these sculpts either, particularly the Ferdinand/Elephant Crew and we no longer use this sculptor because i don't like the style. They're not bad, they're just not what i want. But the Crew is priced at $65/figure which is far below our normal pricing and the LWG figures are also priced significantly below our normal pricing as well.
