Mountain Men and Schindler's List (1 Viewer)

Oskar was a hero, he died without two nickels to rub together; he saved over 1,000 people from certain death and those individuals went on to have families, as did those people to the tune of if I am not mistaken over 6,000 souls on this earth are the direct result of Oskar's heroics.

It was a very good movie, but those who don't "get it" need not waste their time watching it as the message of the movie will sail over their heads.

I am a better person for having seen the movie and getting it's message.

End of story.

I agree George. There are several scenes that are very hard to watch and live with you for a long time afterwards. The Girl in the Red coat, the machine gun flashes in the Ghetto at Night to the background music, and the evil B*****rd of a Commandant who picks off Prisoners with his rifle for sport.

Its hard to watch but i think everyone should see it once.Anyone who in anyway thinks that people like Wittman/the SS in General etc should be admired, they need to see this to be reminded JUST what they stood for.

And some people should keep in mind that if you hate something too much you risk becoming no better than what you hate.

Personally I try to keep an objective view when I can and keep in mind that most German servicemen fought for their country rather than the NAZI political party.

I might agree but for the oath of allegiance to Hitler and not to Germany that every German soldier had to swear to from 1934 on.

Brad, the key word there is had to swear. I don't think Germans had an optional oath if they wanted to fight for their country and of course in 1934 most Germans weren't aware how crazy Hitler was.

I haven't made any digs at you Rob

Please quote the post(s) where you thought I was attacking you so we can clear this up.

Saw this last night; it was on HBO and you cannot be helped to be moved by it and what he did. But for him, the descendants of the "Schindler Jews" wouldn't be alive today.
