GODZILLA---Toho's Chief Godzilla Officer Keiji Ota said the studio is expanding its Godzilla franchise which will be known as Godzilla World with more original concepts and interconnected spin-offs, “In addition to the Godzilla films created by Hideaki Anno (2016’s SHIN GODZILLA) and Takashi Yamazaki (GODZILLA MINUS ONE and the upcoming GODZILLA MINUS ZERO), if Toho itself creates original concepts for Godzilla, we will be able to strategically produce spin-offs as well."
He added, “Just as Legendary has its MonsterVerse, we are currently progressing with plans to call ours Godzilla World. If we focus on creating original concepts (for Godzilla), we might be able to keep the franchise going for another 50 years.”
Ota said Toho has learned from Legacy's MonsterVerse, “They are linking the Godzilla movies together, rather than just viewing them as standalones. They are creating these movies with the concept of building a franchise within a vast universe. As with Marvel’s shared universe, I was impressed by their ability to design such a world.”
Ota said Toho will invest $94 million over the next three years to develop Godzilla stores, Godzilla rides, Godzilla video games and Godzilla streaming projects with the goal of continuing the Godzilla franchise, “I’d like to make it into an IP that continues for another 50 or 100 years.”

THE NANNY DIARIES---Netflix tv series underway based on the 2007 movie that starred Scarlett Johansson. GLORY DAYS---Netflix sports series underway whose plot is described as, "GLORY DAYS centers on the top college baseball players recruited to Cape Cod every summer. Specifically, the players try out for talent scouts from around the world for a shot at the majors. As a result, the series follows coaches, players, and local townspeople as their futures, families, secrets, and sex lives collide."

MARGOT & RUDI---Naomi Watts and Alexandr Trush will star in the biomovie about ballet stars Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nuryev.

CLUELESS---Peacock shelved the tv series based on the 1995 movie that starred Alicia Silverstone.

TRIVIA---6' 5" character actor Mike Mazurki was known for playing gangsters and thugs. However, he graduated from Fordham Law School and left his law practice to become a professional wrestler because his wrestling income was 10 times more than his lawyer's income. Mazurki was a bodyguard for Mae West when he was discovered by director Josef von Sternberg..

MICHAEL---the Michael Jackson biomovie earned an impressive $217 million in its premiere worldwide.

RUSH HOUR 4---Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker turned down $8 million each to star in the sequel. They were paid $20 million each for RUSH HOUR 3.

GEN V---Amazon Prime cancelled the spinoff series. It renewed HAZBIN HOTEL for Season 5 which will be the last season.

TRIVIA---April 26 was Alien Day.
In ALIEN, Ridley Scott chose 6' 10" Bolaji Badejo over 7' 3" Peter Mayhew, best known for playing Chewbacca in STAR WARS, to play the Alien because Badejo was more slender and had the "otherwordly...preying mantis" look that Scott wanted.

THE SPACESUIT---Vanessa Kirby and Lewis Pullman will star in the sci fi movie whose plot is described as "THE SPACESUIT follows an astronaut (Kirby), who is forced to make an impossible decision after an incident with her co-pilot (Pullman) leaves an indelible stain on the mission in the days leading up to lift-off, triggering a race against the clock."

THE CATCH---Emma Stone and Chris Pine will star in the romantic comedy baseball movie. An earlier report described the plot as Stone playing a “baseball fan who accidentally touches a ball at the wall, turning it into a home run and costing her team a crucial game. She must navigate the unexpected attention and overwhelming guilt that comes with becoming the unintended symbol of her team’s heartbreaking defeat.“

DOCTOR WHO---former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi commented on fan criticism that the series is too woke, “It reflects its times, and it’s a good thing in the world, though it’s become a bit too big, too important for the BBC or whoever. When I was a kid and watched it, it was just a monster show in the corner of the room. I don’t know why people take it so seriously.”

THE WHITE LOTUS---Laura Dern has replaced Helena Bonham Carter who left the Season 4 cast due to creative differences.

IT: WELCOME TO DERRY---Andy Muschietti commented on season 2, “It’s 1935, we’re now working on it, and it’s so much fun. For the ones of you who read the books, probably the Bradley Gang sounds familiar. The Bradley Gang was a gang of bank robbers that, not accidentally, but they were on their way somewhere, and they stopped in Derry to buy some ammo and something horrible happens.”

TRIVIA---King Charles and Queen Camilla are visiting the United States.
In THE NAKED GUN, Lt. Frank Drebin must protect Queen Elizabeth from an assassin during her visit to Los Angeles and a California Angels baseball game. Queen Elizabeth was played by British actress Jeannette Charles. MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE---featurette released for the movie based on the Mattel toy line.

THE WHISPER MAN---photo released of Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan and Adam Scott starring in the Netflix serial killer movie based on the Alex North novel. The plot is described as, "The story centers on a widower crime writer who, after his 8-year-old son is abducted, looks to his estranged father, a retired former police detective, for help, only to discover a connection with the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as 'The Whisper Man'".

FRIENDS---Lisa Kudrow commented on the hit show's writers, “Don’t forget we were recording in front of a live audience of 400, and if you messed up one of these writers’ lines or it didn’t get the perfect response, they could be like, ‘Can’t the ***** f***ing read? She’s not even trying. She f***ed up my line.’”
Kudrow added, “...back in the [writers’] room, the guys would be up late discussing their sexual fantasies about Jennifer and Courteney. It was intense...Oh, it could be brutal, but these guys — and it was mostly [12-15] men in there — were sitting up until 3am trying to write the show."
The stars were originally paid $22,500 per episode but they negotiated a raise that paid them $1 million per episode, which made them the highest-paid actors on tv. Kudrow said she still receives about $15 million--$20 million per year from reruns.

DEADPOOL 4---Ryan Reynolds commented on the status of the new sequel, “I’ve talked to Marvel off and on, always. We have a really great relationship, you know? It’s always a conversation. I’m always just looking to be additive and help on anything, even if it’s not a movie I’m in. And I’m always writing. I mean, it’s how I kind of get it out of my system. I love writing.
That character and that world is one in which anything is possible, and that in and of itself allows for so much freedom and storytelling. I have a few things written that I love. I don’t know. We’ll figure out when the time is right. I’m not in any huge rush right now to do anything.”

THE NAKED GUN---David Zucker took a jab at the Liam Neeson NAKED GUN reboot movie and said he is hoping to develop a NAKED GUN sequel that was originally rejected by Paramount Pictures. The original script will be updated to spoof spy movies like James Bond, Jason Bourne and the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movies, "If you're a hack, all you can do is just copy it and try to replace Leslie Nielsen, which is impossible. You can't replace Leslie. And I wouldn't want to. Liam is a fine actor, but the idea was just so stale that all they could do, they couldn't hope to do the same as the originals. But I'm excited about this. We're still going to use our original script that would've been the one Paramount rejected, and we're calling it COUNTERINTELIJENCE, spelled with one L and a J. It's a great, great script, which we'll do someday."
He said the future of COUNTERINTELIJENCE depends on if, "they fire all the moron executives that they had that did" the Liam Neeson movie.

STRANGER THINGS: TALES FROM '85---Netflix renewed the series for Season 2.

HOT YEAR---Roxy Sophie Sorkin, daughter of Aaron Sorkin, will direct the thriller movie whose synopsis says, "Set against the eerie backdrop of a small Pacific Northwest town during a relentless heatwave, HOT YEAR follows two childhood best friends whose bond is pushed to the brink after a revenge plan against an ex-boyfriend spirals into a violent incident they can’t take back. Over the course of one feverish night, the pair must navigate the consequences of their actions as buried trauma, loyalty and identity collide."

TRIVIA---Eric Roth received an Academy Award for writing the screenplay for FORREST GUMP. Roth also wrote the screenplay for THE CONCORDE...AIRPORT '79 which was the worst of the four AIRPORT movies and was so poorly received that a fifth movie was cancelled which ended the franchise.

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY---new sequel plot details include that it is set nine months after NO WAY HOME with Peter Parker living alone in a new apartment with an AI assistant named E.V. and a fabricator that is a “3D printer on steroids… something that could be made by a kid genius w/ limited funds.” Also, Peter is suffering from "a small, sharp headache" which a key part of the plot.

KING CONAN---Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a photo with the caption "Still pumping" as prepares for the sequel. Earlier, he said, “They just hired a fantastic writer/director who did Tom Cruise’s last four movies. They just hired him (Christopher McQuarrie) to write and direct KING CONAN. Now, what they do is that they write the part, they don’t write them like I’m forty years old, you write it to be age-appropriate. I’ll still go in there and kick some butt but it will be different. With KING CONAN, its a great old story that Conan was forty years as King and now he gets forced out of the kingdom and there’s conflict, of course, but somehow he comes back and there’s all kinds of madness, violence, magic, and creatures and stuff like that. And now, of course, there’s all kinds of special effects. The studio has plenty of money to make those movies really big, so I’m looking forward to all of those projects.“

DESERT WARRIOR---the Anthony Mackie adventure movie with a $150 million budget earned only $487,848 in its premiere in over 1,000 theaters and is already being called one of the biggest box office disasters ever.

SUPERGIRL--DC Studios co-head Peter Safran said SUPERGIRL will prove that superhero fatigue is a myth, “I never felt that there was superhero fatigue. I felt it was mediocre movie fatigue. You gotta try something new. You have to change the game a little bit. The essential story on which SUPERGIRL is based is something cool and original and we haven’t seen before.”

REBIRTH OF THE LIVING DEAD---funding campaign underway for the sequel to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD whose synopsis says, "nearly 50 years later in Los Angeles where “Trioxin Trash” is the new drug on the street. This “ultimate high” turns users into brain-craving Living Dead and it’s up to a lone scientist and a young couple to uncover the cure before it’s too late." The script is by NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD co-writer John A. Russo. The cast includes Scream Queens Michelle Bauer (HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS), Brinke Stevens (THE SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE) and Jewel Shepard (THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD).

THOR---THOR director Kenneth Branagh said he is ready to return for another THOR movie after turning down THOR: DARK WORLD, “Part of me would love to finish my relationship with that character. I would love to see Chris Hemsworth and the others have their own individual final story that takes Thor into a glorious twilight.”

CASPER---Disney+ live-action tv series underway based on CASPER THE FRIENDLY GHOST. The 1995 live-action movie starred Christina Ricci.

PARADISE LOST---Roger Avary is the writer/director of the movie underway based on the John Milton Biblical poem. The movie will use AI in “expansive worlds to be realized at a responsible budget while preserving the primacy of real actors, human-authored narratives, and guild-aligned production practices.”

MICHAEL---Spike Lee commented on criticism of the Michael Jackson biomovie which does not include the accusations of child sexual abuse because the movie ends in 1988 which is five years before the accusations surfaced, “First of all, if you’re a movie critic, and you’re complaining about the stuff— all this other stuff— but the movie ends at ‘88. The stuff you’re talking about, accusations, happen [later]. So you’re critiquing the film on something that you want in, but it doesn’t work in the timeline of the film. But people showed up. Worldwide, people showed their love.
I miss Mike. I miss Prince. I mean, these are my brothers. I worked with both of them. Both beautiful, beautiful people.”

ART---Ralph Fiennes, Colin Farrell and Wagner Moura will star in the movie whose plot is described as, “art and friendship. It follows three long-time friends, Serge, Marc, and Yvan.
