Gentle Friends,

I apologize for the posting my Show photos at this late date. We took our time returning from the show and only just arrived at home late last night. Consequently, I could not begin to sort through my photos today.

Just for informational purposes, let me describe how I go about taking my photos. Even though I arrive at the shows on Thursday afternoons, I do not bother with taking photos until Saturday afternoon. I wait until Saturday in order to maximize my time for hunting for toy soldier treasure. Almost everything is sold on a "first come, first served" basis and I want to be "first in line" for items that interest me. My early treasure hunt results in fewer items being included in my photos of the various rooms since many things have already been sold by the time I arrive with my camera.

I also have favorite rooms I visit and I take more photos in these particular rooms. Finally, I usually have a couple requests for specific photos and I try to accommodate those requests, on Saturday, of course.

The sequence of my photos are such that they are naturally grouped by specific rooms. And, in order to make it easy for me, I will post them in the order in which I took them. Therefore, I include all of my photos in this thread rather than trying to group them by maker and posting them in different Forums/threads. Hopefully, you will be able to find what most interests you within the context of a mixture of different products.

I should also add that I am not a professional photographer and my photos will clearly reveal this fact. Nevertheless, I persist in trying to snap some reasonably clear pictures and I hope you enjoy viewing them.

I will begin sharing my photos in my next post in this thread.

Enjoy!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

One of the rooms to which I always look forward to visiting is the room of Norman Rodriguez of Memphis Toy Soldier. Every year, Norm arrives with a great quantity of wonderful pre-owned Hocker and pre-owned Imperial sets. How he finds all these beauties is a closely guarded secret. In short, only Norm knows how he finds these things, but I am very, very glad the process works so effectively for him.

Below, you should find the first few photos of items I viewed in his room. As you might suspect, contained in the photos are some lovely Hocker and Imperial sets. Soon, I will post more photos from Norm's room.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

Below are more photos taken in Norm's room. As you view these photos, perhaps you can understand why I enjoy his room so much. It is always full of interesting figures and sets.

If you attend OTSN and you have never met Norm or his lovely wife, Kay, you have missed a real treat. They are among the nicest people you could ever hope to know.

Following this post will be some more photos from Norm's room.

Enjoy!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

In this post you will find the final three photos I took in Norm's room. I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the items in his room as much as I enjoyed visiting the room.

As soon as I can develop the time, I will take you on a tour of another vendor's room. The vendor in the next series of photos is a person who many of us know and greatly respect.

That's all for now. More photos later.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Keep them coming Pat.
Mark

Hi Mark,

Will do. I just need a bit of time to get the remainder of my photos ready for posting. I took quite a few of them, so please be patient with me. I am preparing the photos room by room and I have to sandwich posting the photos between other activities. Hopefully, I will get the job completed over the next few days.

I hope you are enjoying the photos. It was a thrill to be at the show and see all these things in the flesh. If only my budget were larger....^&grin

Stay tuned. More photos will probably appear tomorrow.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thank you, Pat, for posting. It is highly appreciated. I am looking forward to the next batch.

Hi Pat, you must have had a great time at the show going by these photos! I don't collect gloss but I can certainly appreciate these wonderful figures! ^&cool

Thanks for posting and I am looking forward to seeing the remainder of your pics! :salute::

Jeff

Gentle Friends,

After leaving Norm's room, I progressed to William Hocker's room. As you know, I am a huge Hocker fan and I could not possibly leave the show without some photographs taken in his room.

Interestingly, Mr. Hocker brought fewer figures this year compared to preceding years. All the items he brought were sets numbered 390 and above. In short, the sets for sale were largely from his Western History, Boxer Rebellion, and Pancho Villa lines. I had hoped to pick up one or more sets from his Imperial Durbar line, but such sets were not available at the show. The absence of the Imperial Durbar sets forced me to make a few other choices from among the available sets, but I will tell you about those sets at a later date.

For now, enjoy the wonderful world of William Hocker as presented in the photos below and in the photos included in the next several posts.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Gentle Friends,

Below you should find five more photos taken in Mr. Hocker's room. Even though he brought fewer sets to sell at the show this year, there was still plenty to please collectors.

As is frequently the case, Mr. Hocker brought figures to provide a glimpse of a new line he will soon be releasing. These figures were not for sale, but they allowed each of us to drool at what will soon be available. In this instance, the new line is WWI. Unfortunately, a number of my photos of his WWI line proved to be too poor to post. Consequently, you will see some gaps in the photo numbers beginning to appear in my posts.

Enjoy!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

If you enjoy the traditional toy soldier style, you cannot help but like Mr. Hocker's figures. In my opinion, no manufacturer can beat Mr. Hocker's figures.

Five more photos of figures available in his room appear below.

Enjoy!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

At last, we come to the end of the photographs I took in Mr. Hocker's room. I hope you have enjoyed the tour of his goods for sale. As usual, I was greatly impressed with what I found there.

I will conclude my posting in this thread for now. I will post more photographs as soon as I have the time.

For now, enjoy Mr. Hocker's work!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Gentle Friends,

The next room I visited was the Britains room. It was filled with wonderful dioramas and I had hoped to capture great images of these fantastic displays. Unfortunately, my photography skills, or lack thereof, provided very disappointing results. The room was somewhat darker than many and the light proved to be a problem.

The light was not the only problem. I had my camera on the automatic setting. When the camera is set on automatic, it attempts to make the appropriate adjustments for light, exposure time, etc., for the environment being photographed. In other words, it attempts to do the work of a good photographer thereby saving the person from making all the necessary settings manually. Since the room was darker, the automatic exposure time was lengthened which means the smallest movement on my part resulted in blurred photos. Naturally, I was in a hurry, I was excitied, and I was depending on the camera to adjust in ways that could more successfully be done manually by a skilled photographer. The end result is some truly lousy photographs.

I am posting a few of the "better" photos I acquired in the Britains room, but they are very marginal. Fortunately, other forum members attending the show took some excellent pictures of the items in this room and they can be viewed in other threads. The best I can say is my photographs provide evidence that I was actually in the Britains room. And, I offer my apologies for the poor photos.

I should also say this set of circumstances existed in other rooms in which I attempted to take photographs. Consequently, from this point forward, you will see a combination of decent photos and marginal ones depending on the rooms I was visiting. Please persist in following this thread. There will be some nice photos to be seen in subsequent posts.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :(

Gentle Friends,

More marginal photos taken in the Britains room are found below. As you will see, the light and the steadiness of my hands are less than ideal and the photographs suffer as a result.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Gentle Friends,

Below are the last two photos from the Britains room that I dare post. As you can see, while the light is relatively good, the steadiness of my hands has resulted in images that are slightly blurred. But, as I have told some friends in PMs, "Oh, well. I tried."

Better images, which were taken in a different room, will follow in my next series of posts. I will post this next series of photos as soon as I have time.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Gentle Friends,

At long last, my luck improved!!! The next stop on my photographic tour of the rooms was the remarkable Treefrog Treasures room. Fortunately, the photos taken in this room are of a better quality.

One of the extraordinary qualities of this room is the special atmosphere created by our hosts, Shannon and Pete Reuss. As you enter the room, you are typically greeted by the smiling faces of Shannon and Pete. They leave you with little doubt that you are appreciated and that your business is welcomed. Clearly, they enjoy visiting with collectors and renewing friendships. While you are in their room, you know you are in the presence of very special people. If you have never met Shannon and Pete face to face, you owe it to yourself to do so one day.

Their room is always filled with wonderful toy soldier goodies. The photos you find below and in the next couple posts will help document this fact.

Enjoy!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)
