I usually post in the William Britains section, however I have been pretty much off-line since Thanksgiving trying to reorganize the basement space my better-half has allowed me to have for my collectbles (toy soldiers, prehistoric indian relics, and fossils). Up to now I have been sharing the space with toys and a play area for our grandchildren. This past week my wife and I have been converting a spare bedroom into a media/play room for our grandchildren when they come to visit. This allows me to have the whole designated basement area to myself - MY SPACE - totally (approximately 11' x 28') :D

I have half of the space organized, still have to move a day bed, and toys upstairs to the converted bedroom.

Here are some pictures of my effort . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Mike

The half that still needs a little organization showing my desk/computer, K&C Crusader "Fall of Acre" diorama, more cabinets, and small refrigerator (beer here) w/microwave. Day bed and all toys to be removed.

Very nice Mike, what a great wife you have :) I like the idea of the cabinets for figures that are not being used on your ACW dio. I plan to have a similar setup when I move (although not as large). Looking forward to more reports on your progress and of course more ACW !!!:D

Thumbs up for cabinets. Dust piles up.

Nice photos of your "space." Thanks for posting.

Where is your Crusader Castle?

Nice room Mike.

Rod.

Looks awesome dude. Are those sabertooth and megladon teeth fossils?

Keep it silly

Thanks everybody . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Mike

Rod - my "Fall of Acre" dio is in the background of the last picture. Its a walled city under attack by Crusaders.

McKenna77 - The Saber Tooth skull is a museum quality (extremely detailed - you would think it was a real fossil) casting of the largest known Saber Tooth tiger to have been recovered from the LaBrea tar pits in California - its quite the conversation piece. The Megladon Teeth are all real fossils - two of them measure 6"+ in length.

Mike, I was watching Pawn Stars on the History Channel last night and they had a Megladon tooth, which I think they said was worth $1000. Can you also post pics of some of your Indian relics?

Now I know why it's been quite in the TN Valley and have no doubt yor in seventh heaven working on organizing your new playroom in your newly acquired man cave. Looking forward to it's finished results and playtime from it.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look Joe and Jake.

The larger "Meg" teeth can get rather pricey for sure. Here are three (out of nine) of my relic frames all representing the Adena culture in the Ohio River Valley 800 B.C. to 200 A.D. I belong to the Badger State Arch Society and the ribbons in this picture are show awards I have won for my relic displays.

Thanks for posting the pics. Did you find those? I'm alway intrigued with ancient cultures. The Hawaiian people of old, basically lived a stone age life (no metal in the islands). The local people treat these artifacts with great respect or fear (being haunted). A few years ago, I was archery hunting on the island of Lanai. Walking in the brush, I stumbled upon an old Hawaiian settlement and found a large fishing stone sinker. I must have sat there for a half hour trying to decide if I should take it home or leave it. I left it. Changed my mind and went back the next day and couldn't find it. Oh well.

I have been an "Archy" (amature archaeologist) for almost 45 years. I started when I was a teenager in Ohio and have maintained my interest in Ohio's prehistoric cultures ever since. I would say that I have found about half of my collection. The rest I either traded for, purchased, or was given. I am still an avid collector of these "pointed rocks" as my wife calls them.

Hi,

Thanks very much for sharing your "cave" with us.

I sure could do with the space that you have for the cabinets and the diorama table.

It is always very interesting to see how collectors display their sets/figures.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Mike

Love your "Cave", just wish I had that amount of room

Cheers

Martyn:)

Nice hobby area Mike. You have great displays and working area. Thanks for the pics of what you are doing lately. I am still puttering and putting back things. John

Mike,

Nice cave area, the fossils are cool, I especially like the megladon teeth.
Do you have any Civil War relics to go with your fossil collection.

Thanks Raymond, Martyn, and John

Brain, some people think that I am an old Civil War relic :D;). I have some bullets and a bayonet for an 1861 Springfield 58 cal musket. I also have some 1861 Springfield musket tools; nipple wrench, spring puller, ball puller, patch screw, etc. Nothing much just small odds and ends.
