The Toy soldier experience in Melbourne held it's first diorama competition this year for the Ten anniversary of K&C visiting Australia . I entered two dioramas the fist running the gauntlet and the second was somewhere in South East Asia ,

the gaunlet won peoples choice and the the S.E.A won Andy's choice .

I would like tp thank Howard and Jenny for a great night and being great hosts .

These are the first Dioramas by me for a couple of years and my first real entry into the forum .

Not surprised they won !
The Gauntlet is fantastic. If they survive the rapids, there's the danger of the Indian in the shadows !

Great jungle cover, tree and water effects for your Vietnam dio and a dangerous lurking V.C. not to mention the huge lizard ready to drop on someone's head !

Well done on them both !

It was well done Damian! That is a great piece of water treatment in the Gauntlet. I don’t recall seeing a better or more dynamic scene. Looking forward to what you come up with for next year. We will definitely be back for another look. How are you doing with the rice paddy?

Send me your address by PM and I’ll send you a sample by mail. One already on the way to South Australia. I put one of Andy’s marines into a small section - had to cut one foot off the shotgun man but it works like he is stepping from the water onto a bank. Great fun working with water:)

From your photos it is obvious why the won …. really well designed and staged dioramas.
The canoe and waterfall is fantastic and (as mentioned) full of action and suspense. The water effect is a work of art in itself.

The treatment of the jungle floor is also a winner, as it is the first time I remember seeing the rot and decay so well done.
Winners indeed … {sm4}

Damian mate,
Great to see you aboard the Forum with those well deserved winning entries. I am sure you will be able to contribute heaps of knowledge to the Forum especially when it comes to Romans and Barbarians. You are the one I turn too when I need some intel on Romans. Keep up the great work.
Cheers Howard

Damian,

you got my vote for your Vietnam diorama at the dinner in Wallan,
the details that put into this work was first class, so keep up the fine work,

John

The water feature is amazing, well done and thanks for sharing.:salute::

Stunning work! I can appreciate all of the detail in your Vietnam diorama, but that FIW waterfall diorama, WOW!

An excellent pair of dioramas-background and groundwork are exceptional.I'm glad you compete in Melbourne;the competition in Brisbane is tough enough as it is.Well done that man.{sm4}

Very well done. As others have said, your water works are excellent and really capture what you're trying to display.
