My first FL: the Chasseurs (1 Viewer)

Another figure that I haven't seen, (That doesn't mean much!) is figures in the act of fixing bayonets. Both drawing from the scabbard and actually fixing it to the musket.

I like that particular figure in the British Guards release. That and the figures that are reaching for a cartridge I also like. Now we just need one tearing a cartridge then we will have most all of the evolutions in loading and firing.

Has there been one in any of the releases where the figure is 'priming the pan'?

Noah

One of the Westphalian guards is fiddling with the hammer. he could be priming or cocking. Also looking in the same release there is a soldier tearing a cartridge. He is kneeling though.

Hi Paulo,

Thanks for posting the photographs of your new acquisitions.

Paulo,
congratulations to a fine set of figures you got there to start your FL collection.
Great photos too. They sure are a good support to show the quality of the products.

A number have posts have been deleted already. I have just deleted another round.

I feel it quite sad the childish bickeriing that goes on and that you would allow this to disrupt Paulo's thread in which he shares his collection with us.

Equally sad is the inability to differiate between bickering and fair observation; and so it goes.:(

My apologies Scott,no intention to drift the thread was deliberate.Just jousting with the FL guys;).

Now some comparison photos with 2 connoissseur pieces I have: one from Kolobob (the Roman sold. with sword-7 out of 10 painting quality) and the other one from Aeroart. To me it's hard to notice any considerable difference, FL faces tend to be a little darker/colorful and that's about it. I believe this speaks volumes about the quality of FL's figures.

Thank you for the comparison pics, Viriato. Your pics are very helpful. I have one Kolobob figure and several Aeroart pieces. It's nice to see how well the FL figures display alongside the Kolo/Aero figs. And I really like the scale of the figures you have shown. I know I keep saying this, but I will jump in one of these days...even though FL's selection of ranges is growing rapidly, they still haven't quite hit on any of my personal preferences. But everything they do looks fantastic in the pics. I'm really liking the American Revolutionary figures. I think it's best if you don't let Matt know how well his work compares to Kolo and Aero :p. When I finally make the FL plunge, I'm hoping FL's pricing is still in the same realm it is in now.
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying your new additions. Congratulations on what appears to be an excellent, impressive choice. Have fun with them:)!

Hi Joe, many thanks, I am sure new ranges are coming up and that you'll be glad that you were patient to wait for them to come;). On second thoughts maybe I shouldn't have posted the comparison with the Connoisseur figures:D:D as you state...
I also didn't mean to creat any havoc when comparing K&C and FL photos but I thought it might be useful for people to see and think what they like from these photos (if they find them useful...). I have K&C items in my collection that I very much enjoy and don't want to let go, like the one I photographed, but if you ask me which figures I at the moment like best I think my answer is obvious:p.

All the best,
Paulo

I think you did just fine Paulo. As you note, the photo comparisons are useful and the results obvious.;) I have some K&C Cuirassiers that I do not want to let go either but the comparisons are no less valid.

I agree Joe,have been tempted by FL but not quite taken the plunge as yet.I decided against their WW2 range even though its my natural habitat, but their ACW figures look stunning and I think its the range I am most probably going to for.Hopefully we can post both positive and negative comments here, after all it is the best Toy Soldier forum out there!:)

Well Rob, as you'd expect I'd urge you to take the plunge if you'd like, I bet you won't regret it;). And after all as you know better than me, there is no law against collecting both brands (except for the size of one's wallet, but that's a different earthly thing, we are discussing art here:D)...

Cheers,
Paulo

I'm sure I won't regret it Paulo, those ACW figs have such life (and death)in them, and I agree about the wallet!;):D

Rob, I see we are on the same boat again, my friend! I too decided against the FL WWII range, which wasn't easy as WWII one of my natural habitats as well, but I tend to focus more on D-Day w/ smattering of Pacific Theater too. But now I am having second thoughts yet again as Figarti is creating some amazing Russian tanks. So the undertow of the Eastern front is stronger than ever on two manufacturer's fronts now:eek:! I agree too that the FL's ACW figures look incredible. They have quite an intensity about them indeed, which is one of the things that attracted me to their Revolutionary figures. That and the fact that they aren't just planning on doing a few sets of figures, but a full blown range, and that really matters to me. I like the way FL covers their chosen subject matter. They really do seem to cover all the bases quite well, and won't leave one hanging with a poorly written final chapter, so to speak. Please let me know when you decide to take the plunge...I'm almost to the end of the diving board myself:p. I'll tell you what though, if someone had been representing FL at the Westcoaster this year, I think it's safet to say I would not have been able to fight off the urge to jump in. I think George said he might make it out to the Westcoaster next year, and I'm really hoping he does.

Hi Joe,

Once again you are spot on mate. One of the things that is very important to me(especially when first starting a collection)is being safe in the knowledge that there will be real depth to it over a prolonged period of time.FL do this in spades, great depth and attention to detail. Its exciting to think what FL may offer over the coming years for such a huge battle as Gettysburg, the mind boggles at the thought. For me as a dedicated WW2 collector its actually very nice to have a totally different range to think about, different era, different uniforms etc.I'm clinging on by my fingertips to the edge of the FL diving board and Matt and Gettysburg are about to come and stand on them!!;)Will definitley let you know when I fall in!.

All the best Joe

I'm right there w/ you, Rob! This is why FL is in the cards for me. If anyone could tackle Gettysburg, I think FL can. Could you imagine that? I agree - that's exciting indeed and that's what makes this so much fun:).

It's those Ruskies I tell ya...I find the same rationale swimming between my ears:p!

LOL! Well Rob, just keep switching hands if they stamp on your finger tips!
Now if they step on both hands at the same time, well then you are in big trouble, my friend.....just take a deep breath, pry your fingers lose and let go! I guess I'll see you at the bottom;)! Sink or swim, we must have fun along the way!

Best,
Joe
