I just wanted to thank Andy for such a great job on making this little dio come to life. We are getting there. Still more things to do. I am just looking forward to getting some more track so I can get the train in motion. Of course, it won't be on my study furniture! I have changed the title of this display to "Victory!". Notice the German on the placard under the engineer's cab. I picture the scene in the first days of the war when both sides were eager for battle and sure of a quick victory. How wrong they were!

What a great display. The addition of that train just MAKES IT !!!! It's great that our hobby can lead us down different roads to enhance our collection, although our wallets would probably say otherwise :D

Nice choice for an engine, it is amazing that it fits so well with K&C.

It looks like a 2-8-2 Mikado with a Southern Railroad paint scheme.

Is that the Aristocraft version in Gauge 1?

Ken,

It is the Aristo-Craft G gauge which is 1/29th in scale. I know it doesn't appear as long in the picture as it really is, but the loco w/ tender, plus the two 20' box cars is 5' long. Yes, it the Southern. Good catch! Placing a placard over the word "Southern" it which reads "Sieg!" was the only way I knew of hiding it. The numbers on the tender are just fine though. I wanted to show how in the beginnings of war, all of the pomp that comes along with it before reality sets in. I had the idea of the flag tied to the tender to help symbolize it somewhat and it just happened to cover all the numbers on the tender. I have some more ideas for improving this display. I am hoping that Andy does come out soon with a German field gun that I can add to the display. I would put it on a 20' long flat bed.

I am very happy with the items I have purchased from Aristo-Craft. They fit great with K&C. I do have a lot more to do on this display, but it is starting to take shape now.

I appreciate everyone's kind comments.

Darrell
