hey guys,
I had some extra time last weekend so I decided to take some photos of my Monongahela diorama. I left the figures inside the case so the photo angles were somewhat limited. Someday I’ll take the display out and have a real photo shoot.
Enjoy

Wonderful ! Wonderful ! :D

How did you do your trees ? - they look great.

Great diorama.

That is a fine diorama, Bryan,
congratulations to such a beautiful collection.
I would also be interested in the trees you are showing here. Are they actually branches/twigs or did you make them. Look great !!!

A truly awesome diorama in every sense of the word. As others have stated the trees are incredible. Please tell us about them and aslo join us on the French & Indian War threads. We are happy to see another collector in this area.

That is an amazing collection! You have a lot of excellent JJD items in that display. The 44th Foot Grenadiers and the Woodland Indian sets are my personal favorites. Nicely done. Were you smart enough to get some of those earlier sets right off the bat or have you been struggling to find them after the fact? Just curious. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you all for the comments. To answer some of you questions….

I first saw john’s figures October 2006 and a few weeks latter I bought my first sets in Gettysburg. The diorama has been about a year in the making. I’m very picky about getting it setup to look like the actual battle. I spent a lot of time trying to get the trees right. I tried using department 56 and large scale model railroad trees but nothing was the right scale and by the time I got the trees into the case all you could see were the tops of the trees. The idea for the current trees started to come to me after studying Robert Griffins “The wounding of General Braddock” painting. Then last labor day I was trimming trees in my mother’s yard and that’s when the idea came to me. Basically I took a tree branch and I trimmed it down to the size that I needed then I mounted it to a round piece of pre cut wood from A.C. More. Maple seems to make the best looking tree. This spring I hope to photograph a good background and I still need to find someway to model the military road.

Hey guys, here are some new pictures of my Monongahela display. I took a lot of photos, so I will post some here and the rest will be inside my profile.

A standard by which all other will be set. What an amazing collection as well. You sir are a first rate Jenkinsian. You do the figures proud. I noticed a glimpse of the Battle on Snowshoes underneath? Care to share that as well?Cheers.
