There's a few of us who never had a chance to purchase Rommel's Afrikakorps Greif. As the description of the new Adler states, "unlike the first Command Vehicle this new version also has a 2-colour camouflage scheme"; and I must say, I love the colors. Although this new vehicle does not include three figures like the Greif, it does contain one radio operator. He's a little rough around the edges (paint quality wise) and a bit small compared to other AK figures, but still looks pretty good inside the vehicle.

Edit: I've got my eyes on the new DAK medical crew but I think I may pass on 2016 Rommel on Inspection (AK109) as I already own the previous Rommel with shorts. It will be interesting to see the color differences as Katana pointed out in this post, AK Series Uniform Color Change. I'm honestly hoping the change is slight as I own an existing division with the old colors.

Rob; the color change is from a Yellow/Kakhi to a Sand/Tan hue. The early AK series circa 2001 had Yellow and medium Green uniforms. The color change to a Sand/Tan came gradually starting I believe with the Tunisian Tiger. The current AK093 Sd. Kfz 251 is a prime example of the sand color now used. Given bleaching by the Sun in Tunisia a variety of hues of Green and Sand could be expected and considered realistic IMO. Most uniform color references i.e. Osprey Men at Arms series; The Panzer Divisions show DAK uniforms as sand/tan trousers with a Field Grey tunic.

It looks good Rob and nice dio mate. I'm expecting my "Adler" this week so i'll do a dio with it along with a whole bunch of other vehicles/figures in the coming weeks.

You have convinced me to join you Rob, my first foray into the Desert. Robin.

DAK is addictive! I am constructing a diorama and I have repainted several pieces of Armor in DAK colors; an Sd.Kfz 251, an Sd.kfz 231 and a Panzer III. Plus I keep adding pieces, a K&C Panzer II I found on Ebay at a good price. The whole project started with a K&C figure of Rommel; which I had to provide with suitable Armor to command. Four pieces of Armor and a PAK 40 so far, plus a desert backdrop and 2 pounds of sand for the foreground.

About time Robin.^&grin You won't regret it mate, the AK & 8th Army range along with K&C's desert village pieces are some of their absolute best in my opinion.

On behalf of us 'desert' collectors welcome to the fold.:salute::

Did the Adler operate with the Greif in Rommel's command post or did he use whichever is available? Thanks

There was a third command car SdKfz 250 used by Rommel called "Igel" (Hedgehog)
Rommel used all 3 of them ( Adler, Greif and Igel)from Febuary 1942 onwards when he formed a combat detachment under his personal command. This formation was well equipped and was used as a direct intervention force whenever and wherever needed in the frontline to support the A.K

Nice WO.

I have the old "GREIF" Rommel halftrack so I probably won't get this one.

The GRIEF AK029 released in 2006 had three figures for $125.00! The good old days!

K&C has probably done more DAK than all other 1/30 manufacturers combined IMO. Plus a big advantage being that TG & TCS are compatable; which means a lot of choices of figures and armor.

Hey guys - appreciate all the nice comments. You guys always provide a lot of words of encouragement to share future scenes/pictures, as well as great ideas for future dios.

Lucky dawgs for all you guys with the old GREIF.

Funny, when I posted this original topic, I was going to picture the GREIF and mention the three figures included with the set as opposed to the one radio figure that comes with the new Adler. In fact, I was going to add that it's one of my 2017 Christmas wishes involving K&C. Then I thought to myself, those days are long gone and if we did see the return, prices would probably increase quite a bit as well. Suppose we have the opportunity to save for those "figure additions" under the current model.

Takes me back to Tunisian Tiger days and AK027 Field Gun (to name a few). Now we're lucky to get a single figure that you don't always use.

For example, I purchased the Russian SU-76M Self Propelled Gun (RA057) some time ago. Was looking forward to seeing the gunner (not seen in the stock photo below) that came with the tank. The figure doesn't stand or sit without roughly posititioning in the tank's compartment. I now keep him in the original box. Having one much smaller figure in scale is disappointing as well but I digress.

The Adler is a nice vehicle and I look forward to future DAK by K&C.

Thanks Guy. Were these 3 vehicles seen in the battlefield at the same time?

The "Greif" was Rommel's personal SdKfz 250, The "Igel" belonged to commander Keil and the "Adler" to commander Crüwell. Rommel used these vehicles at times as well possibly when "Greif" was being serviced or was out of reach. So there is a possibility for these vehicles to be in the battlefield at the same time but not necessarily next to eachother.
