After a year and a half here is my Normandy Village battle diorama. Need to thank George at Minutemen for the buildings, thank also Mark at Build-A-Rama for the roads, fields and Tim Tyler at Troops of Time for most of the troops and vehicles. Hopefully I'll be adding more vehicles and soldiers to this dio in the months to come.

Impressive display. I especially like the first photo with the long view of the village - it looks like the view from a low flying aircraft having a look. Even though it's a long view, the display pieces are realistically spread out so plenty of detail can be seen.

Is that the 8 ft x 17 inch grass mat with road Build-a-rama said they made? And did you also order the other 8 ft mats? If yes, I guess we will soon be treated to a Winter scene?

I also really like the building in the second photo. It came from George? Is it custom built?

Thanks for the great photos.

Terry

Thanks for posting, great set up - that village looks like typhoon heaven, infantry and armour hell!

Hi Terry,
I had Mark at Build-A-Rama custome make this grass matt because of the dimentions of my table, I think it came out wonderfully, my camera does not do it justice, looks better in person, also all the buildings on the German side are from a retired K&C village I got from George who hand painted alot of the detail, the buildings on the American side of the battle are from Conte, I can't wait to add some trees, other terrain to this dio, it's still a long way from being completed, thanks again for the compliments...Sammy

Superb stuff Sammy, you've really laid down some good work here, love the house ruins pic.

I think the K&C village is one of the nicest pieces I have been able to collect, thanks for your thoughts Rob...Sammy

Very nice! I like the barricaded part of the village. Looks like a great choke point to destroy any advancing armor trying to get through the town.

I plan on getting some more rubble and destroyed structure to finish the K&C village to give it more realism, what would be really cool is Andy and co. making a German gun like in the Private Ryan battle scene in the village, I'm not sure what type it was maybe a 20mm or something?? it would look sharp defending the village...Sammy

Sammy

Love the display - wish I had more room to do something like it !

Great Work ! :D

Incredible, how big is the table it is on?

Right now I have two diorama tables I'm working on, the winter battle table is 10 ft. long, and the Normandy village table is about 8 1/2 ft.long, I wanted to use one room in my new home for my dios and miltary stuff so it has worked out nicely, plus I still have plenty of room on both tables to exspand my collections, can never have enough room though:)...Sammy

Outstanding diorama. What a great collection of panzers you've got there. I think those yanks better beat a hasty retreat and call in some air support pronto!!!
