Incorporating Saxon sets that I have collected over the last few months into my existing shield wall display. Here are a few pics after placing the reinforcements.

Quite impressive Mike your collection so far! Looking forward to the release of the archers this year. Love the standards!

Cheers,
Grey

Mike,
Looks like a realistic scene to me. It had to take a lot of courage (or mead) to attack battle lines like this.

Steve

That’s what John had in mind and you have achieved it. Robin.

Thank you very much Robin

Thanks Steve . . . I can't even imagine what those melees were like to have been in . . . Brutal

THX Grey . . . My next project is to rearrange my Normans and Bretons which are haphazardly placed on the half of the display not shown in these photos.

Great effort in collecting such an impressive display. This series was the most tedious for me in covering the bases but worth it. Looking forward to seeing the Normans combined together. Greg.

Thank you Greg . . .

One could keep buying figures until they had the largest number of Saxons but the problem becomes of how one is going to display them. There will allways be somebody who claims to have more than you but i work on the theory that once I reach saturation point for a diorama size, that is the end. My battle of Hastings has reached that stage and maybe just a few crossbowman will complete the scene. Good to see such an interest in the ancients. Regards Greg.

Greg, my Hastings display is 6-feet long and 3-feet wide. Even with that, I am starting to reach the saturation point.

Amazing Greg and Mike. Fantastic 1066 display and i agree with you both. For myself i envisage one day having a big table that i can fill with Saxon, Normans and Vikings

I would say you would need a big table Jason. I have about six dioramas that are around 2 metres long but the biggest in area has to sit on it's own table. It's the Punic Wars diorama. The ships and water take a lot of the space. Photo of. Greg.

These are very impressive displays. Mike‘s shieldwall is out of this world.

i really like how you covered the bases, Greg. Is this static grass. Why was it difficult?

THX . . . I've never counted them all, but I can say I have collected all the Saxons that have been released.

Mike

Look excellent, i think that is around 96 figures, looked at the excel sheet i have on my JJD collection, i am upto 71, so a little way to go, but John is leading the way forward with the quality and the amount he releases. I have took a step back from the Saxons/Viking and been concentrating on my Trojan War and slowly but surely building my Jacobite range.

Plus there are also K & C WW2 new SS and British Normandy stuff that has took my eye.

Great conversation and beautiful pics by all. Just 45 Saxons total here, less Normans and Vikings.
Saturation has been reached. Also, we wanted to use that table for future displays but have no curio space for our about 88 men for JJD's 1066 plus about 50-some Conte guys with their ship and plenty of horses and diorama pieces to boot.
But we will still try to display all 3 sides on our table. Just don't hold your breath, but we'll post pics then.
Anyway Best 1066/Medieval Collecting!
