To all my Treefrog friends, those I have already met, and those I only know from their posts on the forum, my son Alec and I are coming to Great Britain from August 3-11, starting in Scotland and ending up in London. I would love to stand any of my Treefrog friends to drinks. Please PM me or e-mail me if you are interested in meeting up.:salute::

I want to thank everyone for their kind responses, especially the invitations to travel down under (I am seriously considering it for next summer). I am meeting up with a couple of Treefroggers in Great Britain, and if anyone else would like to grab a drink, please email or PM me, I will have my laptop and my phone (I leave tomorrow).:salute::

Hey Louis mate, I do hope you guys travel Downunder next Summer. I have Two spare rooms and unlike Brisbane we have proper beaches here on the Sunshine Coast ^&grin

Thanks Matt! :salute:: If we make it Downunder, Matt, I will definitely take you up on that offer!

The first day has been epic! We arrived at our hotel in Edinburgh at 8:00 a.m., and hopped a bus right down to Princes Street, then walked the Royal Mile, saw Edinburgh Castle, and then went antiquing. At the second shop we went to I was able to purchase one of my holy grail collectibles: a Scottish dirk made by an arms-smith who went out of business in 1740, and is thus old enough to have been at Culloden! The dealer's provenance indicated it was found in the thatched roof of a cottage in the highlands. I am psyched!

Hi. Hope you enjoy the UK and that people are as kind to you as they have been to me when I have visited the US. The Historic dockyard at Plymouth should be on your list of ‘things that mustn’t be missed. HMS Victory is awesome. Warrior and the Mary Rose are also there. Imperial War Museum London and RAF Duxford. I’m sure you know about all that. Apologies for our public transport system our motorway service food and our weather. But there are great things if you know where to look.

You mean Portsmouth of course rather than Plymouth.

Sounds like a great trip Louis and hope all works out for you to meet up with some fellow collectors. The UK is one of the places my wife and I have made several trips to over the years and is a favorite. We've been all over England, Scotland and Wales and there is so much to see. She is a gardener and I love castles so there are plenty of options for the both of us! One place you need to consider is the Tank Museum in Bovington. A great visit. Also there are numerous museums in London and RAF museums around southern England that are very much worth seeing. Cheers to a great trip.

Delighted to hear Louis you and Alec are enjoying Edinburgh…It’s also where K&C began when my brother Gordon bought me that first little set of Royal Marines by Blenheim that got me into collecting Toy Soldiers once more and which a few years later led to the beginning of King & Country…

And the rest is history…Have a great time Louis!
Andy.

Today we are on a tour of Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle. It has been a tremendous trip so far! I will try to hit as many of the places that have been suggested, thank you for all the excellent suggestions! It is exciting to be at the birthplace of King & County!

Pmd you mate. I'm not far from Loch lomond and was supposed to go there this morning but something came up.

Travel safe.

Scott

I could actually take you to the exact area where Andy lived!

We are in Stirling Castle and just finished touring the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum. It was incredible! I had Alec take photos of everything, which I will post once we get home.

Alec and I just got back from a tour of the highlands and are having dinner before attending the Edinburgh Tattoo!
