Oldest son, on leave after returning from Afghanistan last month, and I went on a history vacation trip to Virginia last week. Here are a few pics of the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. Great place, much like the Infantry Museum at Ft Benning. Great life size dioramas and tons of artifacts, MOH, exhibits, etc. A must see place if you are in the area. Chris

I have been there as well, and it is one of the best museums in the U.S., and definitely the best C.S.A. museum in the world! It is a must in the state of Virginia. While there I also met the descendant of J.E.B. Stuart.

That's quite an experience Sandor. Did he/she say anything about their ancestor? Our guide's great grandfather was in 4th VA Cav. Chris

(He) was this old (and very classy) man, kind of what you would think of as the stereotypical southern gentleman. He talked a bit about him, but he was not actualy the guide, he just goes there to talk to people.

Visited Fredericksburg battlefield after the Marine Corps Museum.

Sgt Kirkland did not survive the war.

Thank you for sharing the photographs. The Marine Corps Museum looks amazing, and I have rarely seen a more sobering sight than the number of unknown honored dead in that graveyard.

Louis, Pzr Ace, glad you liked the photos. We visited Monticello on the way home and tried to make it to the D Day Memorial in Bedford but arrived too late. :rolleyes2: Will make the next time. Chris
