My WWII Collection has started... (1 Viewer)

Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this great man.

Cameron,

I am sure your friend is now resting comfortably in heaven and happy to be reunited with your grandfather. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Best regards,

Alex

Thought I would just share with you all that my dear friend Robert Huie (see the story in the first post) passed away last night at the age of 86. His wife and son were with him in the hospital and I was there with him all day up until a couple hours before he passed. In many ways it's a blessing because of how much pain he was going through these past two years. I know he is in Heaven now with all of his buddies and of course with his best friend, my grandfather.

Thank you guys so much for the kind messages and posts about my good friend (bonus papaw) Robert. His service was today and it was short and sweet just like him. I am a musician by trade and ever since I was little and started playing my first instrument (trumpet) he wanted me to play taps one day for his memorial service. I only hope I made him happy in doing so today as it was an honor for me. God Bless these men from the Greatest Generation.

Cameron, great to see your passion for keeping alive the memories of our veterans. I just ordered a three book unit history of the 29th Div in WWII, already have two books of that famous unit. It is my favorite WWII division as I am from Baltimore.

I'm sure playing taps brought a smile to your friends to be so honored. Chris
