N.F.L. 24-25 Season (1 Viewer)

Yes, I get a good laugh at how so many people take sports too seriously. Myself included from time to time. I'm a LA fan. I enjoy watching the games and if they occasionally win a championship so much the better. But life is tough as you get older and puts everything in perspective. The great equalizer. Sports should be a distraction from all that. And I do like Dunkin Donuts or whatever stupid woke name they changed it to. I could be a closet New Englander.
I love those YouTube videos of people melting down when their team loses a championship and they smash a 1,000.00 TV or destroy their house; for what?

All I wanted this year was to be entertained and for football to be fun again, we get together with about a dozen people every game and it sucked the past two years, this year was a lot of fun, we'll see how they do in the playoffs, no one is taking them seriously, so we'll see how things go.

I can't remember a year where both conferences were so wide open, any one of 10 teams could get to the Super Bowl and it would not shock me.

As far as Dunkin Donuts; to your point, they remodeled them here in MA, they used to be packed with goods, now it looks like some upper crush pastry shop with a handful of items in a glass case, the seating areas are void of oh, I don't know, tables and chairs................"Buy your coffee and get out"...............

I went back and checked 2000, 2005 and 2015 to see how many teams were over 500 for the season; the other stats require intensive research. I excluded .500 teams.

2000 - 16
2005 - 17
2015 - 13

A bit of a drop off but not precipitous one.
Brad:

As always I respect your informed response and I appreciate the additional stats.

Not condoning Metcalf but apparently the Steelers are not going to void any of his contract.

Class move by one of the classiest organizations in pro sports.

My prediction is sadly Steelers lose to Lamar and the Crows and knowing my luck Derek Henry will somehow put them into a Super Bowl. That is about the way it is going for the Steelers.

All due respect to my fellow Niner fans but even if they win today (and that is a big if) it doesn’t mean they will automatically win the Super Bowl at home.

LA, Seattle, New England and Denver are all better, less injury ravaged teams.

I think they can win today and if they should win the Division game, they might have Fred back for the NFC Championship game but only for limited duty. However, having him back on the sidelines would be a big boost.

The Seahawks are just better than the Niners, so are the Rams.
The 49ers defense played well enough and although the Seahawks D is very good and negated the 49ers offense, if they score near the end of the game (instead of losing the ball on an Int), they would have had a chance to win.

They lost three LBs and their status is uncertain for next week but Williams and Pearsall will play, which will make a big difference.

Who they play is up in the air but it will probably be Philly.

The Niners are not the same team they have been in previous seasons. Injuries and frankly treating some of their players poorly. Seattle won three tough games to close out the season including a come from behind win against the Rams and two road wins. They earned the #1 spot. If the Rams now take care of the hapless Cards, they finish in the #5 seed playing either Tampa or Carolina. The Rams are also getting several players back from injuries in time for the playoffs.

I am for the Rams in the NFC, can't stand Seattle (I really don't care), but I dislike that city and its team, having to go there numerous times over the years, just not a fave. 49ers, I think they are low on gas. Eagles, what is there not to hate about them - Jalen Hurts and Philly, case closed. Go Rams.

As to AFC - don't care, would not mind seeing the Patriots do it anew so to speak. Bills are boring, Chiefs are out (they actually to me are fun to watch). Really nothing to say about the other teams, other than I am not watching the Steelers, they deserve what they get after not beating the Browns, I am not wasting my time tonight.

The Rams are as good as anyone when they are on their game and healthy. Neither has been the case in recent weeks. The Seattle loss was brutal. If Stafford gets back on track and the Rams defense can get any stops on third down, they have a great shot. I do think the Eagles are still very dangerous. It's hard to win in Philly in January. The AFC is wide open. I think Denver, Jax, Buffalo, and NE all have shots. It may come down to a bad call or lucky break at the right time. I do hope the Steelers win today as I can't stand Baltimore and "small game" Lamar.

Injuries have been a killer. Impossible to replace Bosa or Warner but who have they treated poorly? Deebo wasn’t the same anymore and they gave a great contract to Aiyuk and he quit on the team. His offensive production was a loss but not his attitude.

I think Shanahan fixates too much on McCaffrey on offense. McCaffrey is a great player but he is taking a beating with all his touches. And defenses can adjust to neutralize him. I don't think they trust Purdy. Garoppolo was treated like crap. They practically backed up the moving vans to the locker room during his last season. Several other offensive players were marginalized and let go. They certainly were prima donnas but in the NFL you have to cater to such types if you want to win. The whole team no longer gives off a championship vibe. They are no longer the bullies but the bullied. When you can only score three points at home in a game as big as the one yesterday, it is not good. The Rams put up over 500 yards against Seattle.

congrats to Myles Garrett...breaking the record with 23 sacks in a season...and not to diminish Strahan's fantastic record...but this wasn't a Brett Farve "gimme sack"...which by the way was only a 16 season...

The Patriots finished the season 14-3, the Patriots have won 14 or more games more than any other NFL franchise.

It's on to the Chargers, we'll see how the post season shakes out, just glad to be back in the playoffs, anything that happens from this point on is a bonus.

The regular season ended on a high note, what a game to wrap it up.

Harbaugh face is always nice to see; why not run the ball at the end with 15 seconds left and two time outs, not to mention the ball was on the right hashmark, he pulled it wide right as a result.

The ghost of Billy Cundiff strikes again.

Two stiff kickers with back to back misses to end the game.

The Texans might actually kill Rodgers next week, we'll see.

When Steelers fans come down from this high it will hit them that Tomlin just bought himself another year.

I will take Tomlin over most out there. The main problem with the Steelers has been non balance. When O is good, D was bad, then D Good, O bad, can't seem to find that balance even with money to burn on both sides. Partial bad luck, partial bad drafting, etc etc, it has come home to roost. That said, he wins enough and who else is out there? The good ones are locked up under contract. Do we want Harbaugh? I think not!

Ok, disclaimer, I only watched last 5 mins, my wife watched entire game. Same old crap, our Kicker who should have won it last week in Cleveland tanks an extra point. Somehow on a 4th down miracle Lamar throws it up, Jaylen Ramsey mistimes the ball and Ravens are in FG position. Also, how he is not sacked is questionable, Steelers have way too many misses. Also how do deep balls keep getting behind this secondary? Too much money spent for that to happen IMO.

Their kicker missed, and GOOD FOR ME. As Doug says - SMALL GAME LAMAR is going home. That for me was the best outcome.

As to the Texans, again, streaks, can they keep it going, can the Steelers put together a complete game? Who knows, big advantage is it will be 20 degrees next week at night and outside- advantage Steelers Will that matter, I don't know, but I will watch it b/c making the playoffs still means something (very little but something)

That was a soul crushing, franchise altering loss. I wouldn't be surprised if Harblow is done in Baltimore. When they took a knee after that great catch that put them in FG range, I couldn't believe it. Why not give Henry another carry and get five or more yards closer instead of taking a knee and losing a couple of yards? There was plenty of time on the clock with another TO. It was no gimme kick from 40+ in the cold. A great game, though. I could be wrong but couldn't see either these teams going far in the playoffs. This was the playoffs for them.

It will be one and done for the Steelers. By all rights they should be heading out on vacation today.

I have said that all season long but Roger's mojo is something else. They have a shot outside in the cold. Little shot but I think it may be interesting.
