N.F.L. 24-25 Season (8 Viewers)

Just saw a clip where some news station interviewed Stidham's Uncle, he was asked "Did you ever imagine your Nephew would be playing for the chance to go to a Super Bowl?" and his Uncle said "He never had the makings of a varsity athlete."

The national media is all aboard the Stidham, sorry, "Stiddy" hype train, how this guy has been a career back up despite competing with a washed Cam Newton, a washed David Carr and a rookie QB based on how the national media is portraying his immense talents is mind boggling to me.

He's been waiting his whole life for this moment.

Sounds like a line from a football movie if ever there was one.

And I get it; it would be boring for the media to say it's going to be 33-7 New England, they want people to watch the game and also, be able to say "SEE!!, I told you Stiddy could do it!""

The AM 6:00 to 10:00 sports talk radio program had some yahoo sports commentator from Denver on as a guest...............Mother of God........what a complete stooge.

I dump on our guys here, but at least they carry themselves as professionals vs this yahoo from Denver, what a complete boob.

The media loves to hype these stories. It reminds me of Bill Murray in Caddyshack: "Cinderella story, out of nowhere, a former greenskeeper, now about to become the Master's champion." It's not impossible that Denver wins at home but I don't see it the way the Pats D has been playing. No backup QB who hasn't played all season is going to do much against them. Denver will go turtle and call safe plays to avoid turnovers and hope for a miracle.

He hasn't thrown a pass in an actual NFL game in two years, but "Stiddy" is going to get it done, I think one sports talk station had his pop warner coach on and he went on and on about how "he's built for this moment"...............

You can't make this up.

And again, I get it, it's all about hyping the story as you said, it would be boring to say all week long "The Donkos have no shot with this tomato can as their QB", the only comparison I can make is if Maye was out and our back up Dobbs was starting..............we'd have less than no chance.

IF Denver pulls this off, I think I'll take a break from listening to talk radio for 6 months, the Patriots will get killed around here and rightly so.

At least they didn't sign Philip Rivers. Imagine the media overdrive if that had happened. He could have played in one of those mechanized wheelchairs. I do love the name Ben DiNucci who is apparently the third string QB. They should play the theme to Rocky if he has to come into the game. SF was down to the hot dog vendor at QB a couple years ago against the Eagles in the NFC Championship. As I recall, that was not pretty.

I remember that game, it was painful to watch.

I found out they are paying "Stiddy" 6 million a year to wear a ball cap and hold a clipboard; he really must be the real deal then huh?

He's either going to have the game of his life and this loss will haunt me for a good 15 minutes or he'll be awful and Denver will get rolled.

Laughing immensely here. Philip Rivers - I actually thought we might see him!!! That was my first thought. One thing about Rivers I have always heard is he is a class guy, no bs, so I would imagine helping out that lower than turd Coach Payton is apparently NOT on his bucket list.

And people wonder why I hate this team and their fan base with the fire of 10,000 suns.

A career highlight video of three passes and a run................as Rich Eisen said, this has gone from NO chance to let's get him fitted for his yellow jacket.

Pretty impressive for him to read the lyrics from his phone, GEGJ.

George:

Great post.

Enough with the pundits and shows that promote constant Disney stories that are not going to happen in order to create suspense and competitiveness that simply does not exist.

There is no way Denver wins this game with a second string QB.

-Jason

I have no plans on watching this game, the Patriots are going to win.

From your lips to God's ears.

Denver is only a 3 to 4 point underdog and Denver has a good defense while Maye has been so so in the post season so I give the Broncos a chance.

Whatever happens, the winning team is going to be a decided underdog to the NFC winner.

McCarthy got the Steelers job; pretty amazing in that he will have been the coach of the three most historic NFL franchises.

It's going to be a tall order for the Patriots to go into Denver and knock off Stiddy, hoping for the best, but when you go up against a future hall of famer like that, it will be a difficult task.

The Patriots are having a hard time getting film on Stiddy to break his game down, which is to be expected considering any film on him is on VHS tapes.

Have to give Payton a ton of credit, signing this guy and stashing him on the roster for just this occasion, no stone unturned when it comes to that coach, he of the one trip to the Super Bowl.

The Denver defense gave up 26 to Green Bay, 34 to Jacksonville, then played two teams without their starting QB, then 30 to the Bills, the Bills did not punt once the whole game and still managed to lose because it's the Bills doing Bills things.

After two back to back 4-13 seasons, for the Patriots to get to the AFCCG is amazing to me, this has been a fun season, we'll see how things shake out tomorrow.

And sure, if they win, they will be underdogs in the SB, what else is new, rinse, lather, repeat.

I'll worry about that if/when they get there.

I bet Belicheat could get some film. LOL. Good luck tomorrow. Hopefully the power doesn't go out.

Thanks, best of luck to you as well...........if the power goes out, there's a restaurant about a mile up the street that has a generator, I'll get out my dogsled and schlep there.

The line/spread has moved downward since the week started; people have convinced themselves that Stidham isn’t a middle aged backup qb whose spent his entire career playing behind league average QBs (and one year of Brady), he’s the second coming of Steve Young.

Real stellar job by the NFL media this week pumping Stiddy's tires; they did their job, drumming up interest in this game, good for them.

I don't gamble, but friends of mine who do don't like the line moving.

My God what a long week, between all the end of days weather coverage to the back and forth on this game; thank Christ tomorrow is Sunday/gameday.

Let the chips fall where they may.

I am hoping for a Patriots Rams Super Bowl.

New England is already there, LA has a more difficult task

That Seattle defense is formidable.

Kyle Shanahan has coached 143 games for the Niners. In those games only 4 times has his team scored less than a touchdown. The Seattle has 2 of those wins in the last 3 weeks.

If Denver wins, the fix is in period OR the Patriots give it to them. I just don't see this happening, but then again....Any Given...........yeah no.

Looking forward to the Games from Sunny Jupiter Florida. Perfect timing this year, flew out Friday PM! Need to go for a walk, then off to the market for wings, etc.

About 80 degress today..............:)

The game is in Denver and there are things to be nervous about, but this is the one matchup where "they played an easy schedule" argument doesn't hold any water, given that Denver's was nearly as easy and they needed far more breaks along the way to win as many games as they did.

These were two fairly evenly matched teams, now one of them has to play a backup QB with 4 career starts on his resume.

This is the Patriots game to lose, if they limit turnovers and false start/DPI penalties, they will be in good shape, if they can't bring pressure on Stiddy due to Denver having one of the best OL's in football, they need to do things in coverage to confuse Stiddy, make it hard for him to make throws.

If the shoe was on the other foot and Maye was out and our back up/Dobbs was playing, people would universally be picking Denver.

Can Stiddy pull an upset? He's one of the 60 or so best QB's in the world, so sure, any given Sunday, blah, blah, blah.

Five more hours to go.

I think the only chance the Broncos have is ball control...running the ball as much as possible and short passes to keep moving the chains...and of course their defense has to be spot on...if Denver gets behind by 2 scores...I don't think they can mount a rally...wind chill in the single digits to low teens...maybe the altitude will help Denver...should be a fun watch...but the Pats should definitely win...

IF the Patriots don't turn the ball over multiple times and IF they don't get a number of false start/DPI penalties, they SHOULD win the game.

The same commentators and reporters who are pushing the Stiddy narrative will be the same people complaining in two weeks over a non competitive Super Bowl, the Rams/Seahawks would roll Denver.

The league wants Maye/Stafford or Maye/Seattle in the SB......................we'll see.
