Thank you for your kind words. Here is a new vignette:

WOW....NICE....Looks REALLY very good:salute::....Do you have any more pictures that would show all 8 of the FL Saxony horsemen.....Thank you.

Frank, that would unfortunately require work with a mirror. :). "Embarrassing" is the wrong word, but I do not have a complete set. Having said that, this will not be the last photo of the Saxons. The next one will be them against Russian infantry.

No problem....Thank you Guy....You really do excllent work.... it's always a treat to view your dioramas and photography...Many thanks and much appreciated:salute::

The Saxon Guard du Corps at Borodino 1812

This is such a beautiful figure. When I first saw it, I knew I had to have it even though I don't collect Napoleonics. (Unfortunately mine came with the tail broken off, but I still love it.) To me it's one of those transcendent, line-blurring miniatures that demands a place in your collection, regardless of whether you collect the historical era or First Legion at all.

Joe

For Frank. :)

I don't think this one has been posted before:

Beautiful painting of Russian Heavies at Borodino, I hope to see First Legion produce them some time down the road. regards Gebhard

I am embarrassed. Thank you, Gebhard, for clarifying. :redface2:

No need for that my friend, I thought you might have a little info on upcoming releases . Again GREAT painting, regards Gebhard

Here are a few more images of the mighty Saxons, they are in my top 5 Napoleonic Calvary units. First Legion did such a wonderful job bringing them to life

Gebhard
I really enjoy the history and facts about those units
It's great history and very informative

Thanks my friend, very nice of you to say this :salute::. It makes me happy to hear that all those years I spent buried in books was not wasted :wink2:. I'm always happy to share the information I take pleasure in learning with others who are also interested in Military History.. regards Gebhard

I apparently have a problem escaping the photogenic appeal of the Saxons:

Death in the Wheatfield, 1812

This is my first use of one of the "fur mats". I have mixed feelings about them, but I think here it is OK. But honestly, it is more the lack of viable alternatives for wheat field environments than anything else that "forced" me to buy this.

Hi Guys,

While I'm not such a great Photographer or dio builder in fact I don't even own a single tree :redface2:, I thought I'd share one of figures of my Favorite FL Napoleonic releases so far the Saxon Guard du Corps. I display this figure in front of an Original oil study painting in my collection painted by the splendid artist Mark Churms. It was painted by him years ago as a test study when he was working on his depiction of the of the mighty Saxons at Borodino called ( DIE UBERLEBENDEN ) . regards Gebhard

Gebhard, an original from Mark is quite a possession!

Thanks I really love it,
He is a great guy and fellow History nut who lives here in the states now. I'm going to get piece commissioned hopefully in a few weeks showing another Napoleonic subject dear to my heart don't tell it's top secret :wink2: luckily the wife doesn't look in. I think it works well with FL's work, like George was saying sometimes ya just gotta treat yourself unfortunately I do it a bit much :redface2:. best Gebhard

Let's see whether you treat yourself to a trip to Valley Forge this year! ^&grin

I met Mark at the now defunct Fredericksburg Toy Soldier Show, big fan of his work, he's done several Waterloo themed paintings that are brilliant. A lot of action, which is my hot button................

With all the shows you do I was sure you would know him, he is very approachable and a hell of a nice and knowledgeable guy. Would be nice to see you again and also Andreas, Rod, and the others. Who knows it just may happen its a FANTASTIC show, but it takes a lot of planning for me unfortunately I'm not yet retired. And all my vacation time is spent overseas.
