NAP0427-NAP0434 Saxon Guard du Corps!!! (1 Viewer)

Just received these 2 magnificent Hourtoulle prints from France. The first one shows the "Gardes du Corps Saxons" and the second one the "Cuirassiers de Zastrow". At Borodino the former unit lost 232 men (out of 450) and the latter unit lost 237 men (out of 400). Both units combined, only 75 men would survive the Russian campaign...

Thank you for posting these. Congratulations to your acquisition.

Nice prints congratulations I've got copies of those myself :wink2: Could you pm me with information on current cost ? I have about 30 extras of different units and I just have to realize that I'll never frame and display them all . They come with the pages of text (in french) and are hand colored in protective sleeves just wondering what to ask . Thanks Gebhard .

Beautiful images thanks for sharing :salute::

Found 2 nice other scenes picturing these 2 superb units:

Great shots ,
the top one shows just how much Russian heavies are needed. Really hoping to see them down the road from First Legion like the Saxons I don't think any other company has attempted them. Would also love to see First Legion re-create the Zastrow Kürassiere pictured below also much needed. thank for sharing

Could you tell us the names of the two painters please ?
many thanks and greetings from Germany

Sure, the first one is from N. Yezhov and the second one from Anatoly Telenik. You can Bing their names on the Web and you will be amazed by their talent!

I don't know any books on them or with their illustrations. They are both Eastern European artists which may explain this...Not sure either how you can get prints of their work, that is if they are reproduced by anyone.
