If you think FL have nailed it again then you are entitled to that view.
But unfortunately the FL flag bearer's flag is NOT a Union Jack.
St. Patricks Cross - the red diagonal cross does not sit right in the middle of the white diagonal, it is to one side nor is there the black edging on the British Flag.
Look at the FL Scots 92nd Flag it is more accurate
This is the British Flag.

I appreciate the info provided by Gazza as he is absolutely correct:salute::....Sadly,It is not completely accurate...but..... still....for me.... These are beautiful Flag-Bearers for this British Nap Series.... and I will be purchasing these figures irregardless of this discrepency.....They simply look EXCELLENT{sm4}....Can't pass these up{sm4}
Same, with me. Nothing has changed. I really like the British pieces. And for me to pass it up, I know I will regret it sooner or later.
It took me 5 min to figure out what the problem was, if they fix it great if not its not gonna keep me from getting one for my collection. I Don't think anyone is gonna see it on my shelf and notice and to be honest I don't think any Americans would know the difference anyway and would bet more then half the English don't as well. I know most Americans have no idea how many stripes are on the American flag or why, I know sad right. I'm glad it was pointed out to me as I learned something and that's a part of life I enjoy. regards Gebhard
This is about historical accuracy and after all we are talking a national flag.
Where it is positioned is to distinguish on the flag the Scottish and Irish Kingdoms.
Imagine only 11 stripes on the US flag !!!
FL prides itself on historical accuracy – that is why I collect several of their ranges – and they got it right before, so should know better. For the prices charged it should be right.
And by the way Gebs - English and British are not the same :wink2:
For those who will still buy it - great.
The purpose of the post was to discuss FL's new product - after all that is what the forum is about

Gazza....No question....you are 100% correct....This error in the Flag-Bearer is not exactly minor and I'm sure that Matt and FL are not happy about it....maybe it will be corrected, maybe not.....First Legion prides themselves on historical accuracy and excellent detail and that's why we collect FL products and not others.....Seldom does FL make these kinds of mistakes.....Still this looks like a excellent release....and since the British 1st foot guards are no longer available this is the next best thing..... I still think the British 1st Footguards need to be re-released....Also Re-Release more of the Russian and Prussian Flag-Bearers and Drummers to keep these NAP lines ALIVE and AVAIlABLE otherwise the remaining inventory dies out and the speculators shut down the line by hoarding Flag-Bearers and other key figures much needed in the series.....When you have a popular line that sells "keep it going" and make more of it.....Make a good accurate "much requested" products at fair prices....MAKE IT AVAILABLE for collectors to purchase.... and it will sell.....I will buy this line because....I NEED BRITISH NAPS.
Reading this thread has been interesting. I hadn't paid attention before to the layout of the Union Jack. Also equally surprising is that when I googled the Union Jack in the Napoleonic Wars I found this article on the only surviving Union Jack from the Battle of Trafalgar. It actually looks like the "incorrect" version on the new FL miniature.

Back to my earlier question, does anyone know if the shades of blue varied in the Union Jack - I'm sure they did somewhat due to dyes and weathering, but I thought it was supposed to be a darker blue like the blue in the Trafalgar flag in the article.
Just got this one and indeed it's a nice piece but as a warning the overall colors are much darker than the site picture version's. I often notice that with FL figurines btw.Really liking the "green" regimental flagbearer, nice piece. ^&cool

Hi Grumbler,
If you noticed my post below, that was my prediction. For some reason the promo photo's for FL have since day one too bright almost yellow in color. The photo's are always clear enough but they always have this same yellowish hue, I have to put it down to the printer and the settings. They certainly don't do the figures any justice. I have become used to it and actually kind of like it, it keeps sales down which gives me time to build my armies at a more leisurely pace :wink2: regards Gebhard
